I don't know what your trying to get at but I feel this is another pointless thread.

Apparently Conservative thinks that the BLS tables are actually per monthly changes, rather than cumulative totals. The problem is, if it was per monthly changes then the workforce is expanding by around 260 million monthly and the out of workforce by around 70 million. Basically, the US population is doubling every month if the tables are per monthly changes rather then cumulative.

Yeh, it was obvious someone laid a poopy somewhere. :p

I'm trying to show him that the BLS charts, unless explicitly stated with a column for change, or as a percent, are cumulative numbers. He's arguing none of them are cumulative. The problem is with that arguement is that the charts about total workers in various charts are all monthly changes. Meaning that in Janurary, if the workforce was 270 million, that was an increase of 270 million from December. Thus, the US population doubles monthly if the charts are per monthly changes.

I believe it has to do with discouraged workers

If I am getting things straight

When the BLS reports 2 million discouraged workers Consdervative feels that is 2 million discouraged workers who became discourage workers during that month, rather then a cumulative total

Conservsative tends to mix and match charts to suit his ideology and is inconsistant in doing so, using real dollar and constant dollars as comparable when due to inflation they are not you have to use constant dollars (or in my opinion % of GDP) to remain constistant in comparisons between years let alone different administrations.

Obvious Child is using a hyperbolic example to illustrate the problems with Conservatives ideas

A bit more then that.

Correct. As we pointed out, that would mean, for the whole year, there was an increase from Feb 10 of about 12 million additional discouraged workers total for the year. I pointed out other charts that make no sense when cumulative and I pointed out charts that have "Change from prior month" as evidence.

I'm not sure if he just doesn't understand or if he's just so stuck in his ideology he chooses to read them as he wants independent of what they actually say.
