Then please tell all the other Americans on this forum that they aren't allowed to chime in on this thread.
Well, everyone's entitled to their opinion, it's just that whatever American posters believe to be the case, the prestige of their nation can only exist in the minds of non-Americans. However much you might believe you have or don't have prestige, it's not in your power to control it. Foreigners will respect you or disrespect you sometimes for reasons that have little to do with the conscious action of US policy. The status of your prestige is an ephemeral and fickle thing. It can be, and has been, affected by political matters, sporting events, economic occurrences, cultural trends or even natural disasters, more often than not well beyond the power of government or the collective will to influence.
Because of all that, I wonder what the OP was really setting out to achieve in asking the question. Perhaps he just wanted to give posters the opportunity to make one another feel good about the country, or perhaps even the opposite.
