So they weren't advocating the extermination of all Muslims?

Would the inertia change should we be close to uninterested in the entire region, including Israel? Possibly, but no way to know. However, as the material, political, and spiritual interests are concentrated in that region, I would find entertaining the notion rather ridiculous to say the least.

Do you believe if we completely left all Muslim countries, the radical Muslims would make peace with the U.S. and not plan to terrorize us anymore (e.g. 9/11/2001)?
Disrupted their countries? We destroyed their civilizations and killed their families. They will never stop hating us now, and terrorism against us is going to INCREASE because of this.

No. They'd claim we are still being oppressive through our diplomatic and fiscal policies, in all likelihood.

Yea, I think many radical Muslim terrorists would leave the US alone. They may still be a bit vengeful, but a withdrawal and a nice official apology would satisfy many people, including myself. Yet, the US has not only ****ed with the Middle East. They've had their hand in every nook and cranny of the planet. Pissing off Christians, Muslims and Jews alike. The things they've done to say, Central America, is irreversible and hate will always radiate from that part of the world.

Yes, Iraq and Afghanistan will have lasting consequences. Iraq espeically was a reckless act.

AUSTAN GOOLSBEE: I think the world vests too much power, certainly in the president, probably in Washington in general for its influence on the economy, because most all of the economy has nothing to do with the government.

It's a hegemony. Enjoy it. Perhaps in the decades to come we will see another. Should we see the same people protest that? Probably not. But that is because it might be someone they can agree with. That being said, Americans would likely protest the hegemonic actions of another as well.

In summary, spare me the tears.

No. They are radicals for a reason

What it would do is drain any support and future recruitment they may have to draw upon
Radical Muslims need the United States in Muslim countries. It needs it to support dictators, bomb Muslim countries, take the oil. That is where the majority of their support comes from.

Muslims had little to no problem with the United States only a few decades ago. How many Americans know it was a Muslim country that was the first to recognize the United States as a Independent country from British colonialism?
If US withdrew from all ME affairs including Israel which is a source of contention despite the fact many Muslims do not really care for Palestinians, it may not neutralize all radicals but it would most certainly drop the threat level and Muslim countries themselves would have to finally face up the radicals amongst them rather than blaming US and using it as a scapegoat

The Republic of Ragusa was a CATHOLIC republic, not Muslim. But, to be fair, the SECOND country to officially recognize the U.S. was an Islamic one (Morocco).

Not subsidizing them and not giving them free weapons would be abandonment?
