The main reason I left the Democratic party to become an Independent is not any of the reasons you named.

The Democratic party although it had it's day with men like F.D.R., Truman, Kennedy is no longer the strong party it once was.

FDR implemented gross violations of the Constitution that led to the assumption of 100,000,000,000,000 dollars in debt the Mayor's children must share.

FDR implemented the gross violation of the Constitution the led to the economic collapse of 2008.

FDR gave away central europe to be slave states to Russia.

FDR sucked.

Kennedy was an incompetent boob and the nation was lucky he was shot, and would have been luckier if he'd been shot sooner. Like before he commited troops to the Bay of Pigs and promised them air cover he didn't send out.

Truman never really had any sweeping policies, except that he started the Cold War. Is that a beauty mark or a blemish?

It has become weak and if I might use the word "wimpy", they want everybody to be friends , hold hands and sing kum ba ya.
That's not the Democratic party I knew they get pushed around from organized religion, Republicans, Tea Party and Libatarians.
The Democratic party is faltering but to forgive is difficult , to forget well?
After all from 2000 till 2008 is being brought up more than once??
I am happy to be an Independent, YOU WANT MY VOTE WORK FOR IT.

Funny, isn't it, how so many Democrats are too embarassed to admit it and pretend they're independent, even though they never criticize any of the socialist nonsense the Democrats commit and are always ready to defend the Democrats.

The Mayor isn't a politician, he doesn't want anyone's vote.

As far the world being perfect, 2 days after I was born they droped the first atomic bomb on Japan.

Can't get more perfect than that, can it?

In 1952 I lost a cousin in Korea, I was drafted in 1964.

The Mayor saw his duty to his country and enlisted, even though there was no draft.

The Mayor is a patriot.

My neice is on a ship in the gulf, my cousin is in Afganistan

Can the Mayor ask why your cousin is buried in Afghanistan when he died in Korea?

Oh!

WAIT!

You said your cousin was "lost" in Korea. The Mayor is glad you found where your cousin went to.

I came into an imperfect world I'll probably go out the same way.

That's going to be rough on your mother.

Just because the world is imperfect does not mean it can not be improved.:peace

All joking aside, the world cannot be improved by making everyone his neighbor's slave, as the promotion of socialism demands. The world can only be improved by making people free.

I don't know that you can fairly compare the two in that regard. When FY2000 came to an end, the debt from the previous year barely increased at all ($18 billion);

BLASPHEMER!!!!

You are required to pretend Bill Clinton left office with an imaginary surplus and you're not allowed to mention that to money was raided from Social Security!

They're going to evict you from the Democrat Party when they hear of this.

I'm going to keep my opinion out of the first post. I think the title pretty much sizes things up. George W. Bush vs. Barack Hussein Obama

I know that this is rather late in the thread, but I don't think GWB or Obama deserve as much scorn as much as Congress does. Most of the waste, fraud, and abuse perpetuated by the federal government comes from that branch than from the Presidency.

The rant from the Mayor on FDR brings a smile to my face. Its comforting to see that the radical right wing has not given up its complete and total hatred of the man despite his absence from the scene for over seven decades now. It shows that hate is a much more powerful emotion than love for many.

That crowd should appreciate that FDR led us successfully through both the worst domestic and the worst foreign threat we have ever faced in the last century and a half. Were it not for Franklin Roosevelt we would have a far far different economic system today and we could all be speaking German.

Agreed Bush has done quite a bit of damage to the U.S. and the world.
Also Obama promised change, after 3 yrs. where is the economy today?

Bush damaged the world? Are you for real....hyperbole much?

I like Bush much more than Obama, but I still think that Bush did more economic damage to our country than Obama has. Obama's damage has been political. I hope that we can find someone to replace him in next year's election.

Bush hands down, its not even a contest at this point but ask me again a couple years after Obama is done.

Bush, easily.

I just love all these so called Independents chiming in....Bush....Bush....Bush.

you do know that is more than possible Bush really was that bad. I mean, objectively and honestly. Saying the truth doesn't make one partisan. :coffeepap

Obama's lowest job approval rating so far is 41%. Bush's lowest job approval rating bottomed out at 19%. Until Obama at least ventures down into Nixon or Truman land, no less Bush's deserted island of 19%, Bush was worse.

Although I like the man. The President Bush wasnt so hot. He did this Country more harm than good. When Obama took over we were in a CRAP load of harm. Alas Obama has done nothing positive all be it a few things, for this Nation.

Mayor Snorkum;1059402751]The only two ways to stop companies from sending jobs overseas are to nationalize the companies, >>

Why not nationalize. It works well for UK France and other countries...

Just "educating" people won't do **** >>

You're so right. People won't listen to things they don't want to hear... Happens that way on this forum all the time.

None so blind as those who WILL NOT SEE

This is a no brainer BUSH Obama is just trying to clean up the mess that he left

I find it interesting that Obama has done enough damage to make this an argument considering Bush had 2 terms and Obama hasn't even finished one.

What damage has Obama caused that wasn't a problem when he took over?

Obama created a new entitlement program, that is a problem that did not exist when he took over.

As to the problems that did exist (deficit spending) he increased the severity of the problem.

That's subjective, I don't see that as a problem.

Ok, I concede deficit spending is up under Obama. Any problems Obama caused that weren't problems before he became president?

I gave you one, the new entitlement program.

Yeah, we'd never know where you stand on the issues, would we? LULZ.

Prove that it's a problem.
1. The fact that Obama has already granted over 1,000 waivers to Unions and Corporations.
2. THe fact that you have already conceded that the deficit is a problem and that even using the forced assumptions in the bill, the CBO says that the bill will add to the deficit.
3. THe fact that every entitlement program to date has cost far more than any prediction of cost at the time it was implemented.

You're pointing to an aspect of his health care plan which is a problem, the cost, as though that makes the entire plan a problem. I don't see it that way. There is the benefit that everyone will have access to healthcare. That solves a problem. Is it costly? Yes, but so is the current system of treating people without insurance with emergency room care. As far as the waivers, they're temporary.

The health care plan itself is the problem.

Obama Care

suppose it had been proposed by GWB, would BushCare be more palatable? No pun intended.
IT IS A FACT that a lot of pundits, politicians, and ordinary people hate Obama enough to hate whatever he does.
IT is also a fact that MOST of those who say they can't afford to buy their own insurance actually can afford it, but they would have to do without "essentials" like more house and car than they need, cell phones, cable TV, internet, dining out, hair and nail care, bling, saggy pants, pre-damaged pants, beer, wine, smokes, etc.
Personal responsibility used to be a tenent of both parties to some degree. What happened?
