It has happened to me and I used my own resources to do it.
Ps. Thankyou for admitting that you have no desire to end all entitlements as you first claimed, rather, you simply want to sponge even more off of others.
thankyou for putting your words in my mouth...now I am a liar....
I was on my own at 18, with 2 choices, wait til I got drafted and get sent to vietnam, or join the service branch of my choice and hope to get some good training that would make me employable after my service. I chose the latter, but still got to go to Vietnam. I didn't know about the brown water navy.....I do now.
My 12 years active duty and 10 years reserves "entitled" me to 3 years of good technical training while in the Navy, and the GI Education bill when I got out. When I turned 60 I got a pension plus health care benefits. Now that I am 65, I get even more, social security, plus a small pension from my civilian job. I get medicare part A, medicare part B at $119 or so each month, Tricare for Life covers my supplement at no expense to me. Based on my military retirement, I get free medications as I need them (free part D). I also get a small amount tax free for my disability, Parkinson's Disease, thanks to exposure to agent orange.
My wife gets SS since age 62, she is not quite old enough for medicare yet so she is on Tricare Prime, and she has her teacher's retirement since age 59, which is almost twice my retirement. Her employer, the school district, contributed exactly NOTHING to her retirement. It was all HER contributions to the state fund. As my "dependent", she enjoys some benefits from my military years.
Which of those things would you take from me?
Which of those things are "unearned" entitlements?
