This requires watching the video below that this guy (who sounds like Kermitt the Frog) made and listening to what he believes to be a way YOU can break up certain types of traffic jams.
AFTER watching the video..... you be the judge. Would it work or is he a douchebag?

Some of what he says makes sense, but if people knew HOW to drive in the first place this would all be happening anyway. And most jerks are driving around in the left lane and not maintaining the highest speed.

We should be doing this constant speed thing anyway. Using your brakes is such a waste of gas. The problem with this creation of a big gap is that typically you'll get cut off for it, and you'll end up having to brake anyway.

I agree with you. The only thing I feel benefits his type of driving is that it is safer. But as far as breakin up traffic? Nope. Not buying it.

Well real traffic is mostly due to people exiting the freeway and getting stuck at stoplights. For the most part, this technique won't help with that. Sure, it will be more fuel efficient, but you won't see traffic magically start to move because of it.

The real solution to traffic is getting cars off the freeway more efficiently - I say get rid of stoplights and try roundabouts.

I found the website, but can't get it to play. Where did you get this? thx

Haha ive tried this just on my own, but i just give in after awhile because i feel like a dick to the people behind me.

Yes.

My background in engineering (arbitrated and non-arbitrated data transfer) and efforts to smooth traffic flow mostly agree with him.

The traffic problem I have here is older drivers, 70's to 80's, are mixed with drivers that are commuting. They do things like slowing way down for green lights then at times will continue through on red.

Thats why I believe we should euthanize them :giggle:

About ten years ago I totaled my car that was the result of tailgating (the car ahead of me had way way wayyy better brakes than me), and as a result I've had an intense fear of tailgating ever since. If I'm the passenger in a car whose driver is tailgating (especially at high speeds) I completely freak out.

The point of this is that I always follow at least a two second rule, never suspecting that by doing so at all times I've actually been doing some good for my fellow man.

I could have guessed that would be your view.
Also, if you don't have adaquate health insurance or a bond then you shouldn't be allowed in an ER. Right?

:slapme: Its called A JOKE!!!!!!!!!!
Jesus! No wonder your forum was disbanded!

It sounds like it could work. The people might not get to where they are going any faster, but at least the traffic would keep moving instead of stopping and going constantly.

One thing that this would help with is when you have those days that its raining so dang hard that you can barely see 10ft in front of ya. I was doing what the guy in the video was doing (though not realizeing the effects of it like he did) when it was raining and I know that if I had been driving like everyone else I would have hit the car in front of me due to his constant slamming of the breaks. As it was I came damn close to hitting him anyways thanks to the rain.
