Is violence an acceptable political tactic?

Is violence an acceptable political tactic?

this is retarded. as a pro life person myself, I don't think violence is the answer to stop the holocoust of the innocents.

And, yet, you did not vote in the poll. It's not too late to add your name. Not even your name, your pseudonym. Speak up!

I'm shocked, truly shocked, that Chappy all but ignores every left leaning group where extreme elements of it use "violence" as he defines it (Unions, Environmentalists, Anti-War protesters) and instead wishes to focus singularly on right leaning ones.

Is over the top rhetoric problematic? Sure. But there is a large difference between "war" or "violent" metaphors...something used in all segments of society routinely....and actual violent action.

You forgot animal rights activists.

I oppose political violence whatever the cause. I cannot think of a more harmful tactic in American politics than violence; harmful that is to the cause associated to the violence. It doesn't matter what the cause is.

But, then we hear about so called pro-lifers supporting the murder of abortion providers. That abortionist got what he deserved, they say. What hypocrites! And, these faux “Wanted” posters, made to incite someone with perhaps an impaired sense of reality to strike at their political targets. Assassination by deranged person. These hateful political movements justify their bloodthirsty tactics because they claim a higher moral code. Think about it. They know the will of God better than anyone. Maybe the will of God is that you should die, too. Are you sure you're on their right side?

I still don't fully understand the purpose of this poll, so as a poll it kinda fails for me. People are chiming in about abortion, unions, protesters... I'm afraid the basic question wasn't set up in a manner that led this thread in a cohesive fashion. :(

The purpose is to ask an open question and solicit honest opinion. I didn't narrow the question for myself until my second post in which I specially addressed the reprehensible actions of the pro-life movement in this country. I find it interesting that so many responded to the second post instead of the first. I learned something, that, people are always looking for the slant: what's it to you, as we use to ask in New York.

The question was open. X attached a link to an anti-union web site that refuses to identify its sponsors. That's his choice. Mine was to condemn the tactics I see in the pro-life movement. I abhor political violence. All political violence. No matter the merit of the cause.

The Rodney King riots were called a "political protest' by idiots like Maxine Waters. So if rioters were engaging in politics, then certainly violence would have been a most appropriate response to that type of politics

The poll is flawed, there is no "depends on the situation" option.

If it was not a political thing then what was it exactly? I mean if ever there should have been a Fight The Power Stance? This was one of em. Sorry.
