Ive never seen the value in the whole 'roots' thing. My ancestry is from Denmark. Ive got some Scottish in there, a bit of French (its OK...I can admit it), and Im sure about a half dozen or so other variants thrown into the mix. One great great great grandsomething or other hooked up with a native from the Carolinas regions...and at the end of the day...what does that make me? Ive never been to Denmark. I dont 'own' anyone elses legacy, good, bad, or otherwise. I guess some people think its important, and good for them...but...Im at least 4th generation 'native' American and my kids are 5th generation.

Culturalism plays a part in who we are as peoples and it would make me sad to see that wiped out. Sure we are all of the human race but we should never forget our roots. Without them? There would be no types of cooking, music, art, dance, etc. If all of this merged to try to remove racism? It would be very bland and boring. How about keeping our roots and what make us all unique while shunning those that do not wish to embrace every human-whatever/whoever-they may be? I feel that would be a better way to do things.

Most have stopped being racist against a certain race(s).
Many, mostly liberals, need to stop being racist for a certain race(s).
Until then, we will not meet the post-racial age.

She'd be white to anyone but the whiter. I'd put her at mostly whitish. Her thoughts are a product of what society has shown her or what she percieves.

Does that not go back to like the slave days and is it really necessary to have that kind of thinking when it is the year 2011?
