Mixed race children are seen as Black by many and will mostly be judged as that by society.

I see nothing wrong with what she said in that context

So, the father (who is white) had sex with one of the hottest women on the planet (who also just happens to be black), had a child, and is upset the child might be considered black? Sounds like he considers black women good enough to screw, but that's about it...

I think that puts the race card squarely in his corner, not hers.

Yeah, he sounds like a douche, I'd say whatever Halle Berry wanted me to say for the chance to screw her.

This is why we refer to the once great Thai golfer Tiger Woods.

Again, this black/white crap must stop.
We are all humans, these other factors which conservatives hold so dear mean nothing.
And Halle Berry is 44 - now, that is news, I can't believe she is that "old".
She is so beautiful, so stunning.
    Conditioning pays off.
    I love her.

One of my son's best friends is half black and half native American. Another close friend is half Mexican. Another is half Polynesian. Another still is half Russian and half Thai. If you asked my son or any of his other friends about ethnicity, they would just shrug and not really be able to come up with an answer because it isn't an issue. It isn't an issue because they all just see each other as friends. There is nothing to distinguish them culturally, and so it doesn't matter.

Though true, it is a racist statement by today's standard.

Depends on the society you are part of and where in that society you are. In South Africa her child would have been called "Cape Coloured" whether born or living near the Cape or not, in America as Hatuey says it's probably a phenomenon of cultural context.

A friend told me "you can write "mixed" or other on all the employment or official forms you ever have to write but you'll probably still be called "black" by the society you live in."

Re: Is Halle Berrys Comment Racist?

Were her intentions racist? I'm not sure. To be honest I feel it's foolish to say a person is black when the majority of their racial make-up is not black. I can understand with mixed individuals. If the one drop theory is held as true then that makes me a Native American despite being a majority white.
