North Carolina is not like California. You have not had my experience.

I live in a city of fifty thousand people. That's small. My neighborhood is in large part surrounded by illegal aliens. That area is controlled by gangbangers from Jalisco, Guerrero and Michoacan. They are here working in the dope trade. Most violent crimes in my city are committed by illegal aliens. One of my neighbors is in jail for shooting two guys in the head over dope. They are so brazen they have shootouts between the Surenos, Nortenos and MS-13 (from El Salvador) in broad daylight. They patrol the streets. This is from today's newspaper: Man shot in suspected gang attack on Monterey/Santa Cruz county line - Santa Cruz Sentinel

Shootings and stabbings occur on a regular basis. There are no go areas for me. My neighbors and I have even had to face them off on our own street to stop their drug dealing. Is that fair?

Illegal aliens from Mexico and Central America constitute about eighty percent of the total number of illegals in this country. I suspect the percentage is much higher in California. All illegal aliens regardless of homeland should not be in America. It's a violation of the law.

I am part of the solution. It's just not a solution that you like.

I have never lived as a slave. And neither have you.

Btw, what did you think of Dr. Hanson's article?

Solution? MOVE your upitty white ass! Problem Solved!

Unfair? Bitching about your living situation on a message board when you are doing Nothing to help the problem. This is the U.S.A. if not happy? Either take the proper steps to end this madness or move. Seems simple to me. *Shrugs*

Rule No. 4: Don't be a jerk. All manifestations of racism hurt.

AlbertoDumbo, you (along with a few folks-including the GD) failed to address this part of my post: But keep in mind there are illegals from all over, not just Mexico and I get sick of the sterotyping and hate. There is no need to hate. Just a need to create a fix for it all.

Rule No. 4: Don't be a jerk. All manifestations of racism hurt.

You should start following this rule as I AM NOT A JERK! You on the other hand? Racist and a JERK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wonder if I should consider "uppity white ass" as racist?

I don't, just wondering what the experts think about it.

How do you really feel, Kali? Don't hold back.

This is a simple case of she just doesnt understand. Somehow there is missing data on this topic for her. She IS a good hearted person and a very nice woman. But there is something missing that she isnt understanding.
Its very likely that people that DONT want the ILLEGAL mexicans in our country ILLEGALLY to NOT be racist!

Can we make a deal that when the Mexicans give their land back to the people the Spaniards stole it from then we can continue this discussion? Personally...I dont think 'Mexicans' want their land back...they see the ****hole they created in their own country and are glad to be able to escape there and find jobs and a relatively decent quality of life here.

After reading some responses on another forum regarding Arizona seceding from the Union (sorta) I stumbled upon one that was registered with a mexican IP addy that said:

So My question to you is do Mexicans STILL want back the areas we took from them?

Don't you mean "...we bought from them after kicking their butts in a war they started"?

.... there are no more slaves in US and haven't been for a while

Sadly, there ARE still slaves in the U.S. as there are in most countries around the world. It is just hidden and illegal, but it doesn't change the fact that its existance is a sad reality.

Two violations of the rules in successive posts. Doesn't exactly show you have confidence in your argument if you have to resort to namecalling...

I don't know if Kali is racist or not (I suspect she isn't) but she has brought the spectre of racism into this discussion and it didn't have to be... :(

There is a very clear cut rejection of the Mexican people but not to Mexican culture in America. We have appropriated their culture, their holidays and parts of their land but have told them that they can't come over to our country. This would seem highly confusing to most people and it's very interesting phenomenon which hasn't really been studied in academia.

The United States has never created anti-Canadian immigration laws or laws bent against the migration of Canadians whether this migration is made legally or illegally. So why the discrepancy when it comes to Mexican? Well this could be for various reasons and I'm convinced it is a mixture of them. The first is that the US as a country has historically been anti-immigration regardless of where that migration is coming from. The second is that there is a protestant xenophobic attitude towards the Catholic mestizos down south. The third is that if were actually to embrace Mexican immigration we'd then be left without a negative factor in our society. If we were to make them into tax paying citizens of this country, which many of them want to be, we could no longer blame our problems on them. We'd have to find a new group to blame it all on.

What is certain is that the 'give us your poor' axiom was just that, an axiom. It was never meant to include the poor from Mexico or the poor from Italy or the poor from Ireland. It was only meant for certain types of poor.

You are assuming that. And I think your assumption is incorrect.

What anti-immigration laws has the US created specifically against Canadians?

Is there suddenly a problem with Canadians illegally immigrating to the U.S.? If there were some, wouldn't they fall under the same anti-immigration laws as everyone else? Are there any Canadians calling for the Ohio Valley and northern Maine to revert back to Canada? Didn't think so. Nice strawman, but get back on topic...

Your post is the only straw man there is. You're saying that the one reason we're so anti-Mexican has anything to do with a fringe minority asking for some territory back or some perceived problem. The overwhelming majority of Mexicans aren't even in the Chicano movement or remotely interested in border politics. If anything Mexican immigration to this country allows it to exist. They do a hard day's work for 5 dollars an hour while millions of Americans would rather be on welfare. They clean floors for a pittance and accept that they'll be taxed for services they're not going to benefit from. Sorry, your 'Mexican problem' is the only straw man here.

And your comment on immigration laws is bull**** too. The US has a history of creating different immigration policies for different groups. As an example, republicans in the early 1900s tried passing anti-Italian immigration laws in addition to already existing laws. Irish Catholics during the 1830s were ostracized by our society whether they came here legally or not. ****, just look at Cubans and Haitians today. Cubans are allowed to get in due to the wet feet dry feet rule, Haitians are sent back. No ludahai, you have no idea what it is you're talking about. The arbitrary way in which this policy is drawn allows us to call some groups a problem while welcoming others.

This post makes absolutely no sense. The USA has one set of immigration laws that applies to all immigration, regardless of the country of origin. The country that provides the largest single number of legal immigrants is indeed Mexico, which provides twice the number of legal immigrants as the next largest country of origin, India.

I don't understand why you're trying to use some fabricated "Canadian immigration" sillyness to create the appearance of institutionalized racisim in our immigration laws. Since we take more legal immigrants from Mexico than any other country, including Canada, that is clearly untrue.

BTW, every other country on the planet has its own immigration laws, laws that they seem able to enforce without being called xenophobic or racist. I'm smelling the smoke from a flame bait here. Let's put some water on that baby before it spreads.

This is from a few years back, but I suspect the numbers are still fairly close to the same: http://www.migrationpolicy.org/pubs/Factsheet_102904.pdf

Sorry to interject, the main reason we are against the illegal immagration of Mexicans is because it is illegal. America is a nation of laws more so than most others. And you mention about lazy Americans on Welfare rejecting "5 dollar/hr" jobs. Well if the welfare benefits are more than 5 dollars that can be something to do with it. And those jobs might be a little more if it weren't for the illegal immigration artificially lowering what would be a better prevailing wage. As for being taxed for benefits they do not receive, that would be a good topic for another thread. On the whole it is a net loss given they do use such things as Emergency Rooms, get to keep SS benefits when found out at least.

I have no problem in having different immigration policies for different nations at least. (We could benefit from not having any immigration from countries steeped in terrorism for example.) I cannot speak for ludahai, of course, but the issue of this thread is not immigration in general but for the Reconquesta of some of the USA in particular. So the policies of immigration with respect of Mexcio are of importance. It is my belief that both political parties in the USA have refused to uphold the rule of law with respect to the immigration policy and have purposefully undermined it also to the deference of the Mexican illegal immigrants (tho it does include for all nations in Latin and South America.)
