Where's the beef?

Will you continue eating the "ground beef"?

It will continue to be standard practice (using inferior ingredients) as long as people require and continue to purchase really, really cheap food. If you bought a new TV for $20, would expect it to be of the same standard as a Sony costing $400? If they have lied about their ingredients then they should be punished, but if you know what's in their tacos and still choose to eat them then caveat emptor.

I did think it was standard beef, and what is wrong with that assumption? Sounds like you are one of the people I'm talking about.

Frankly, I thought everybody knew that they use filler. It is well-known.

Why would there be a lawsuit?

I believe that the lawsuit alleges that Taco Bell wrongly labeled their products in order to mislead consumers. However, Guy Incognito has had years of experience working behind the counter at his local Taco Bell, so he knew that they were filling their beef with crap.

It's a shame he never mentioned this when he was making my tacos.

What makes it common knowledge? I just told my friends of this; we had no idea the meat might not be what Taco Bell stated.

It isn't common knowledge. Except to Guy, who has superhuman fast food skills.

Maybe the side affects of Taco Bell consumption could be a clue. They should place prescription labels on the bags saying "May cause diarrhea, vomiting, upset stomach, and atherosclerosis."

I seriously haven't eaten their "ground beef" in years. I don't have these problems with their chicken and bean products. Other than the bean products causing the expected.

Beans are beans, I don't know about the quality of their chicken. I was mainly trying to make a funny  I hardly ever eat Taco Bell.

Well, for one thing Taco Bell never states anywhere that they put 100% beef in their tacos. The government only requires that a meat product be 40% beef to be called "beef." The rest is cheap filler. That's what processed food is; it's food mixed with cheap food-like substances.

This is not just Taco Bell, practically all the fast food chains do it. It might not be common knowledge, but then again the three branches of government aren't "common knowledge" either, though they are still well known. The fact that Taco Bell meat is highly processed is certainly no secret, and the information has always been out there for anybody willing to do a little research into the matter.

Draco ate iguana once. There has been an infestation of iguanas in Mexico, and subsequent disappearances. He recalls a familiar flavor in his chalupa.

I once ate a "beef" taco at a little streetside taqueria in Houston. I strongly suspected that during its lifetime, that beef barked, rather than mooed.

Interesting! Iguana sounds like it would be pretty good, actually. I imagine it would taste like gator.

I only eat taco bell only when I'm constipated, seems to work every time :)

Ha! I used to do that with White Castle... stuff is better than Colace!

Im not touching the stuff! Plus its not a good value. BK and McD's is far better. Subway also much better!

Here in Spain we only have BK and McD of the US chains. If I'm desperate, I'll eat at a Spanish (I think) chain called Pans & Co. whose speciality are fresh, crispy, stuffed baguettes. I guess the ingredients are on the cheap side, but everything seems freshly made.

Taco Bell uses "Grade D Butt Edible" beef in their food. I've known this for years and I still eat it on occasion. All this uproar over "OMG, you mean it's not 100% pure beef" is pretty funny if you ask me. We all know what hot dogs are made of and yet we eat them too (because they are delicious).

And to those blaming a particular political party, really? It's somehow the evil Republicans fault because they did what exactly? Anyone with half a brain cell (that will exclude some of our partisan hack posters from both sides from the rest of this discussion) knows that eating McDonald's, Taco Bell, Burger King, Hardee's/Carl's Jr, Checkers/Rally's, Whataburger, In 'N Out Burger (and any other fast food restaurant you can think of) every day is not healthy. It's not the greatest quality beef, it's greasy as hell, and it doesn't provide the vitamins, nutrients, minerals and protein that a body needs. I might eat fast food twice a week myself. I get a craving for it, but I also realize that eating too much of it is not good for me. I need to eat vegetables other than greasy, salty fries to get what I need to stay healthy. I need to eat meat that is a higher quality than "Grade D Butt Edible". This isn't the fault of the "evil Republicans", it's the fault of bad parenting.

We all learned about the four food groups in school. We all know that we need a balanced diet to stay healthy. We all need exercise and sleep for our bodies to work at "their full capacity". If we are deviating from that information that was presented to us, it's because we learned that it's OK to eat fast food all the time from someone. My money is on parents. If parents aren't cooking nutritious meals at home and not taking us out to a fast food joint (or bringing it home) 4-5 nights a week, how can one decide that fast food is OK and it isn't dangerous? It has to be taught at home too.

I love Waffle House. I mean, I really love Waffle House. They have the absolute best hash browns in the world hands down. I take mine scattered/smothered/covered. For those of you not familiar with Waffle House, that's with onions and cheese. Now I know that it's not all that good for me and I need to counter my love for WH with eating nutritious meals in addition to eating greasy, buttery, fat food. It's not the "evil Republicans" fault that WH is allowed to serve such tasty food. It's not the "evil Republicans" fault that that food isn't the best thing in the world to be eating 4-5 times a week (and I don't). There is this thing called moderation that seems to be being ignored here. You can have too much of a good thing (or a bad thing in relation to the topic at hand). Excess of anything that isn't healthy for you is dumb.

So I guess what I'm trying to say here is that the government isn't going to "fix" anything here. It's up to us as individuals to look at ourselves and what we are doing to our bodies. If you don't know that Taco Bell's "meat" isn't 100% pure Grade A beef, you don't really have much of a clue now do you?

**** veganism. Why did God create animals if we weren't supposed to eat them?

I agree,we are omnivores so it is idiotic and unnatural for humans to only eat plants.

I agree. I really feel the FDA should be more involved in food quality. It can't be healthy for us to eat 90% of the stuff sold at fast food chains. If anything, those places should be forced to disclose the grade of their food. Lot's of places get deals on grade B and C meat, and they use that in fast food meals. However, when it comes to medications I think the FDA should be more lenient.

NO!
The FDA may need to be more pragmatic, more intelligent.
I take meds....this must be strict, the extraneous paperwork can be reduced, IMO.
But NO on relaxing anything.
American private enterprise has demonstrated again and again that it cannot be trusted..
Watch for, next month an advertising extravaganza showing Taco Bell as the victim, the government as the villain; and they may even "clean up" their act, at least on the short term....And the conservatives will buy this propaganda.
