In parts of Asia the very poor have no choice but to sell themselves for money. They do it for pocket change. And the larger the supply the cheaper the price. Been there.
Legalize it here and whenever your daughter needed money for cigerettes she could go do a quick job. Price for a BJ would plummet.

Do you know what the average prostitute in the world makes?

So, your entire justification for maintaining the criminalization of prostitution is that legalization may bring down the costs of prostitution?

Do you not realize that she can go do that now?

Regulation fails - perhaps even often. Still, other than a handful of situations where deregulation was aimed to break up monopolies, I don't see any evidence that deregulation ever makes anything better, except for those people who decide to throw others under the bus to get ahead. Certainly, I would think disease-prevention regulations are the best examples of regulations that work well, and that is all that is at issue here.

No, that it will lead to more exploitation of young women by dirty old men. For very little money.

Do you know what the average prostitute in the world makes? They all aren't 1000 dollar call girls.

    Something to ponder:

Las Vegas Prostitution - Nevada | Las Vegas Logue
All of the issues that are brought up in that site about why prostitution should stay illegal can be addressed before the problems arise.

Through regulation and licensing, those women can be protected better than they are today.

Most men are more likely to choose to purchase sex from a licensed prostitute rather than one off the street. Licensed prostitutes will be less likely to rob the guy or to have an STD.

Is there any proof that legal prostitution in Nevada actually causes any of those problems that are mentioned from the Netherlands? Afterall, it would be better to compare the US policies to other US policies, rather than other countries.

We are the US, not another country. Many of our business laws are aimed to protect the workers, as well as the customers. The rates are not likely to drop from legalization, not to the point that you are suggesting.

Plus, despite what that site is professing, when something is made legal, it means that complaints can be filed against "customers" or "bosses" who do abuse the prostitutes in any way without fear that such complaints will land them in jail or other legal problems.

So do you think strip clubs should be closed? What about Hooters?

Turning prostitution into a government controlled business isn't what our forefathers had in mind. It's a good thing that it won't happen.

No. I just don't think prostitution should be legalized. Same as most Americans.

How is it exploitation if the women knowingly and willingly decide to join the legal profession? And "very little money" is extremely subjective, and frankly untrue.
