I voted based on what I want to be cut rather than what I think will be cut. I don't think any of these items will be cut in reality. But they all need some work in efficiency, IMO.

"I don't think any of these items will be cut in reality" with dems still in power, debt ceiling will raise. They can't not-raise it without defaulting on their debt payments. With that knowledge, they have no choice but to raise it. Any bickering over what should get cut in Congress will lead to nothing. The budget was passed long ago. There's little that can be done to change it now. But to play along with your what-if scenario, I have voted based on what should get cut and hopefully, that is what will come to pass.

I would bet on on an even across the board cut if it comes to it. Easier for politicians to cover their ass that way. Still, I doubt it will happen. The public backlash against getting their trough taken away would result in a lot of incumbent booting in the next election.

The debt ceiling shouldnt be raised in the first place because all it does is extend credit for irresponsible spending.

To the question at hand, traditionally education is tends to be the first on the chopping block.

Nothing will get cut, even in the unlikely situation that the debt ceiling was not raised. The government would spend just as much as before, borrow just as much as before, and ignore the debt ceiling.
