    Re: Civil War

Although there is enough tension to cause a war now, I doubt it if it's conservatives vs liberals. No state is completely conservative or liberal. If Civil War does happen, then there'll be lots of confused fighting in the cities, and the rural areas will be devastated, making the productive Great Plains a wasteland and greatly deprieving the US citizens of food. New York, Los Angeles, Washington will probably face the worst fighting. However, if the fighting does continue, then there'll be a shortage of weapons as the US defense contractors will either be destroyed, flee, or be unable financially to produce weapons. The world economy will tank down, as many countries export most of their goods to the US. Also, the varous multinationals that have branches or offices in the US will also suffer severly. The countries that import their food or resources from the US or receive aid will also suffer greatly

People are to lazy and passive to fight for this or that within their borders.
"We’re going to close the unproductive tax loopholes that allow some of the truly wealthy to avoid paying their fair share. In theory, some of those loopholes were understandable, but in practice they sometimes made it possible for millionaires to pay nothing, while a bus driver was paying ten percent of his salary, and that’s crazy." -Reagan

No war. mostly political discourse, which is a healthy thing.
If we keep on the path we are on, we may end up having riots because of people losing entitlements they have become accustomed too.
However, I have faith that things are turning around and will improve even more in 2012. So that's not going to happen.
We just need to get the economy back on track, and people back to work.
Violence won't solve anything and I think the America people know that.
Change for the better will come through the voting process.

People are too lazy to vote! We get the government we deserve.

What do you think, are we on that track?

Note: this is regardless of if you think it should or not, just what you think the chances are that it will happen.
bloody revolution? Probably not... UNLESS it's what would amount to a socialist / communist coup.
    Civil War ? Probably not,

Are we on that track? NO, we're more likely on the track of what is called the 'IMF riots'.

    Here's how it works :
    - Get a country into debt
    - Increase taxes + reduce services to the extreme
    - The people riot (for about 6 months to a year)
    - To 'resolve' the issue, the people get back about half of what they had previously, yet they feel like it's a victory because there is improvement.
    - Rinse repeat steps until there is no middle class.

The OTHER alternative of where the US is headed is like what happened with zimbabwe... and if you look at the Federal reserves actions, you will find that their policies come, not from any of the 'old' schools of economics; austrian, keynesian, etc... no... they decided to go with a more modern economic model. That should be dubbed the 'zimbabwean school of economics' inspired by the leadership of President Mugabe. (In case you're not aware, in zimbabwe a 100 TRILLION dollar note is enough for a small meal, like a bowl of soup and a drink to wash it down).

I'm just curious about how you figure that the economy will improve into 2012?? Preferably if you have some sort of numbers to corroborate this... I'm really just curious as to how some people can maintain an optimistic attitude.

Then again, when the titanic sank, they played the music until the reality sank in that the ship was in fact going down.

Violence won't solve anything and I think the America people know that.
MOST people... but you get 22-25 year olds fresh out of college with a degree in worthlessness and a mountain of debt to overcome, and then to find out that they only job they can find is at a wal-mart running the cash register.... and you think these people still full of hormones and the smug sense of entitlement that is prevalent in americans, that these kids AREN'T going to engage in ... riots at the least.

Change for the better will come through the voting process.
Not without a third party it wont... those big banks that got all their bailout money, they hedge their bets... Obama was their favorite, he got 4 times the banker donations as McCain during the election, and as a return, if I remember correctly, earned them about a 16000% ROI within a year... a great investment if you can get that opportunity.

I voted strongly disagree. Only because who **** on the constitution are smart and will take baby steps to get people slowly used to tyranny and oppression. Very few people actually pay attention to whats going on.Some people are useful morons and insist that certian rights be stripped because of a tragedy or to prevent terrorism.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

I doubt it could happen as different political and religous ideas are represented in all states.
