Should the AZ shooter have been able to buy a gun?

Should the AZ shooter have been able to buy a gun?

Last time I checked gun dealers don't call MS Cleo(a phoney psychic with a Jamaican accent) every time a costumer shows up. So they have no way of knowing the intentions of their customers and only ass wipe anti-2nd amendment retards will go in a gun store saying they need a weapon to murder someone to **** with 2nd amendment advocates and to play gotcha games. So yes as a law abiding American citizen he should be able to purchase any kind of firearm he wants with any kind of magazine he wants..

Given what we know about him, there was no known reason to deny him prior to this event.

Yes, he wasn't a felon, so I don't see why he shouldn't've been able to.

So here's a man who was rejected by the military; who was ejected from his community college because he frightened them, but who is completely unhindered to purchase one of the deadliest instruments available. Got it.

Is MS Cleo the one the military uses to screen their enlistment candidates?

Funny I don't see the spud_meister listed in the Yes column.

Is this a baiting and trolling thread since you knew what the votes would be like?

I posted that before the poll was up. :)

So you advocate denying people their rights because they frighten people?

There are all kinds of reasons to be rejected by the military. Gay, couldn't pass pt tests in basic, injury/medical reasons and so on. Someone being frightened of you is no reason to deny you your 2nd amendment rights.

Should he have been able to buy a car? Get a drivers license? Rent an apartment? Buy spraypaint?

Shame on that evil college for not filing a notification with the state that their student was mentally ill. Maybe they could have taken out an add. Without some form of documented illness or criminal record he would have been legally authorized to buy a firearm. It would be wonderful if they ahd caught it before. maybe since the sherriff that started all the violent hate filled rhetoric had acted on what HE ADMITS they knew about him this all would have been avoided.

You're wrong about that but don't let facts get in the way of your rant.

I can see by your posts in this thread that I'm so wrong. Please show me where you advocate for gun ownership.

Coming from you, heh …

Did I know the votes? I don't think so, but, more important did I know the thinking behind the votes. Not at all. Because, to me, it's so freaking obvious that he should never have been allowed to purchase a gun that I need someone intelligent to explain it to me why they think it is even conceivable that this deeply disturbed human being should ever have been allowed to possess a gun. It's beyond my wildest imagining.

Personally, the “couldn't have known” rational is ridiculous. It requires a eyes-wide-shut mentality. The military recruiters figured it out. The people who went to school with him figured it out. But, society isn't allowed to figure it out. Bizarre. Somehow placing any burden whatsoever on someone seeking access to deadly force, that's asking too much!

You're real good at trying to cover your ass.

Looking at this exchange, it looks like you set this thread up. It's like you could wait for someone to support gun ownership.

I'm not asking them whether he should have been able to purchase the gun, I'm asking you, all of you. Was this the kind of customer that should be given that privilege? Don't go hiding behind the 2nd Amendment, either; this isn't about your legal opinion, this is about your judgment. Should this man have been able to buy a Glock 19 pistol in your judgment?

Your vote is most irrelevent since you don't think anyone should have a gun.

Noone's vote is irrelevant. I don't think anyone should have a gun, either. I think NYC's strict gun laws and background checks are the least our society should have.

Having said that, I voted yes because I interpreted the question as under Arizona's laws, which don't exclude him from having a gun.

"Should the AZ shooter have been able to buy a gun?"

If what I know is true and going by the simple question you asked above the logical common sense answer is yes and its the only correct one.

Anything else is speculation, irrelevant to your question and how its worded, and/or emotional hindsight.

Somehow the military recruiters understood who they were dealing with.
I heard they rejected him because of a failed drug test.
