Does the media owe the TEA party an apology?

Does the media owe the TEA Party an apology for their assumptions regarding Loughner?

I watched some of an interview with the Sheriff last night on CNN and it was crazy. He was happily admitting that:

1. he had no evidence for tying the rhetoric/tea party to the shootings.
2. it was his job as a professional to speculate (!!!) and comment about it
3. it's not Rush's fault, but that attitude anyone can see is the cause

I was trying to figure out how it could be real, the things issuing from his mouth. What he needs to learn is that Beck and Rush are Entertainers who want you to believe they are public servants. And that as a sworn public servant, he should not be behaving like an entertainer.

He has a political ax to grind and now he has a national audience.

The tea baggers owe the American public an apology !
Their accursed love of guns cost a nine year old innocent girl her life.
Our media needs work.
Showing that murderous face on national TV should be prohibited; doing this once may be OK, but that is enough.

Dupnik, 74, a Democrat who has served as Pima County sheriff since 1980, is known for his colorful and often bluntly partisan commentary. Last year, he refused to enforce Arizona's aggressive new law targeting illegal immigrants, calling it "stupid" and "racist." He coined the phrase "political fornickaboobery," to describe the motives he felt were behind the crackdown.
He has called the tea party "bigots," and on Saturday, he had similar words about Arizona's reputation. "The anger the hatred the bigotry that goes on in this country is getting to be outrageous, and unfortunately I think Arizona has become sort of the capital," he said. "We have become the Mecca for prejudice and bigotry."

Thank you for this. Folks have been saying that the left hasn't been blaming the TEA party for this, and now you come along and do exactly that.

Oh, I didn't know anyone had managed to connect the dots. Or even ONE dot.

So earthworm represents "the left" now. Interesting.

It is widely considered a good idea to engage brain before opening mouth.

Don't discourage him. Personally, I'd like to hear more.

He is when people claim that nobody on the left is doing this. Besides, he's not alone.

So you're cool with me then taking any quote from a conservative saying that all gay people should die, and applying it to all conservatives. That is basically what your doing here.

That's not what he said.

He's trying to use earthworm as a representation of "the left". It's the same situation.

Have you ever noticed that? When people try to choose people to represent the left, they always choose unhinged people. Its like saying all conservatives are like Glenn Beck.

Again that is not what he said...

"He is when people claim that nobody on the left is doing this. Besides, he's not alone.

He has in no way inferred all people who lean left are this way. He said "when people claim" as in particular individuals.

You are making a mountain out of a mole hill and adding context that is not present.

This is what X Factor said that I took issue with. He used "the left" as a general term applied to all liberal people.

You quoted the other so I assumed you meant that.

Next time be more careful so you don't confuse the black man. ;)

I think the suggestion that since the "tea party", as a whole...IE the movement as a whole, the membership as the whole...were wrongly accused as being that which fueled this attack that the movement, the people, as a whole should be apologized to. Not that some individual figure head should get apologized to.

I get that. I just don't think that a loosely allied conglomeration of small groups who deflected criticism by pointing out that they weren't an organized bunch deserve to be apologized to as if they were in fact a group of people.

Well, aren't liberal people generally on the left?
