What, have you recently undergone brain surgery? I can't think of a dumber, or more xenophobic, statement that you could make.

Who the bloody hell would you trade with?

I mean, seriously. On the one side, you've got countries that don't share your ideas of democracy and equality, because they're MORE free -- like the nations of the EU.

On the other side, you've got countries that are decidedly more strict, and thus don't share your ideas of democracy and equality -- like China, or many African nations, or Brasil, etc.

Not to mention the idiocy of saying they should all share your ideas of 'constitutional rights', while every country's founding documents, bills or constitutions are different (thus discluding literally every other nation on Earth).

It really is the backwater conservatives like you who make the States look bad.

Out of curiosity, would you extend these protections to Christian sects like the Jehovah's and Mormons?
Of course, the dear leader Glenn Beck is a Mormon.

Who's talking about trade? We're talking about foreign aid.

Screw that. If there's anything I know, it's that the US will never be seen as anything other than the great evil in the world by some no matter what we do. It's liberals like you that make me not give a **** what the rest of the world thinks.

No they should not because that's just stupid, basing whether you create sanctions against a country on whether or not they are persecuting a religion you like.

I don't think we should be applying our laws or protected freedoms anywhere outside of the jurisdiction of the US Govt.

Also, why christians? Might as well put sanctions on every country where anybody is persecuted (and cut off our trade? the idea is laughable).

I voted no. I don't agree with sanctions nor foreign aid, especially not when its directed towards an arbitrary religious group.

Re: Sanctions against countries where Christians are persecuted?

pepople of ALL faiths should be able to practice freely without fear of persecution unless the exercise of those religious beliefs impedes the legitimate rights of others... I am not sure U.S. policy should be to have sanctions on ALL states who have persecution due to religious beliefs as that would likely be a majority of states in the world. However, we should not give favoritism to any single faith.

I am fortunate to live in a country where ALL religious are allowed to practice freely and where there is no persecution against any. In fact, in general, the average Taiwanese is more tolerant toward different religions than the average American is.

Sources please. And should only Christians be protected (the position I'm getting from your post). Kurdish Muslims are persecuted by all other muslim sects in some countries, your stance?
