Of all the debates there are; abortion, death penalty, religion, etc. few are as passionate as this age old question. Which is better, dogs or cats? I offer only two choices here. Is it man's loyal best friend or man's could give a **** roommate? (I may not be entirely unbiased). Pick your poison.

That's a lot like saying, "Which are better? Apples or oranges?"

I'm a dog person (even though we just got our little kitty). A German Shepherd Dog Person. To me, there's no comparison in companionship. Josh will protect me, protect his home and car. Come when I call. Play when I want to. Understands dozens of commands and wants to please.

My cats scurry under the bed when the doorbell rings, hate the car, and scratch me every once in a while just to let me know they can. They obey absolutely nothing unless they want to...come when called? Only if there's food at the end of the rainbow or they're ready for a rub.

Dogs are pleasers. Cats are please-me's. But I love them both.

Personally I don't necessarily prefer either. But my family have only ever had cats.

I love dogs, but generally speaking, and I hate to put this in this cold term but they're simply a lot harder to maintain.

Sorry Maggie. I considered putting in other options like "no opinion" or "like them both" but I everybody, in their heart of hearts, likes one over the other.

Is there such thing as "a good cat"?

When you have a cold and your three cats cats curl up next to you in bed helping keep you warm, they are good cats.

Dog lovers tend to be insecure types who require constant sucking up.

Ah, see, proof that dogs are better. It takes 3 cats to accomplish what one medium sizes dog could do.

You have to walk the dog, watch the dog ****, pick up the **** in a baggie, feed the dog lots of food, ...

Cats are much easier to maintain. It is the difference between having a 2 year old and a 16 year old.

Cats are Aces.

A dog would only warm one side, and would shift around disturbing you, and would fart, and would try and lick you with the same mouth it ate it's only **** from the yard with.

Sure, dogs require more care. That's true too of a Ferrari vs a station wagon.

Man's best friend is a good woman.
Impossible to say which is better, a dog or a cat.
Love them all

Hey, not every dog does that.

no, there is not.

if humans were to all wake up tomorrow to find that our pets had grown to giant proportions, any dog owner would be able to ride them, like a pony.
any cat owner would find his 'pet' trying to hunt and eat him.

cats have no loyalty and are less intelligent. if you are on ship and have a rat problem i can see using them. but let's not pretend like a cat is going to risk itself to protect your children or anything.

LOL, I've made this very argument but with much less panache. This really did make me laugh out loud.

I voted for cats as there was no option for both. I think they are equally wonderful in their own unique way.

I do appreciate that both cats and dogs can lick their nuts. Dammit!

Cats have much more loyalty than you might think. In your scenario, they would not hunt you, they would hunt for you. Instead of waking up with a dead mouse on the pillow, you would wake up with a dead horse beside the bed, waiting for you to eat it.

Really depends on the kind of cat. We once had a cat that would interpose itself every time my nieces would get yelled for something they did wrong. It would do the same for any animal that was getting a scolding also.....including a freaking horse. :p Now if that isn't loyalty and care I don't know what is.

Catz rule!

Okay, this was also funny, however not having to wake up next to a dead anything is another plus for dogs.
