Also in the last year she has had bladder trouble - I am assuming, as evidenced by her adopted habit of relieving herself in my shower if I don;t respond to her meowing fast enough to let her out. Needless to say she has not returned to a litter box.

My mistake - we HAVE returned her to a litter box. And she uses the hell out of it - I think she is part horse based on the volume of urine - the litter clumps are softball size on a good day and nearing bowling ball size on a bad day
I don't like the term ‘better.’ I wish the poll question was “Which is preferred?” I love cats, Seal Point Siamese cats specifically. Dogs, large or small, require a lot more care.

I was cleaning out my subscriptions and I ran across this. I thought I'd bump this thread and see if any of the new guys want to weigh in on this weighty issue. Besides, cats are winning and we can't leave it at that.
