How Much do you Pay for Cable?

To watch the same program over and over again as well as advertisements I pay around 50 bucks a month.

Oops I voted before I read the instructions. Sorry! $110 for cable and internet. I have no idea how that divides itself out.

O for cable

I stopped watching TV over a year ago

But I spend $47 for internet though

On a side note, I know a guy who has gotten free cable for like 10 years. He moved into the house and apparently the cable company forgot to unhook the previous owners TV. Lucky bastard.

28ish a month for sat with 100something channels that I never watch.

Not the bundled crap with internet and phone..... JUST cable.

The only type of TV that we watch is what you can get off of the internet. It's a hell of a lot cheaper to pay for phone/internet than it is to pay for phone/internet/cable(or sat). And you get a lot more from the internet than just TV shows/movies.

I pay $75 a month for cable, which includes HD programming and a DVR. I had high hopes for being able to ditch it in favor of Hulu plus, but none of the shows I like to watch are part of hulu plus, so that didn't pan out. I'd also have to find a way to legally get live sports broadcasts over the internet.

Don't have cable, but Comcast still bends me over for $75 internet every month...

I pay $115 for phone/internet/cable/HBO. I know HBO is $16. I figure phone is $20, internet and cable are $40 each.

Wow, you must have REALLY fast service.

I wish... it clocks at about 8-10 Mbps down, 3.5 Mpbs up, and DC's me on average of 2 times a day. I don't bundle it with any of their other services, so they charge me a premium. The same service was $29.99 three years ago when I first subscribed and they just keep cranking down the thumbscrews.

Ouch, that really sucks. I think 12 Mbps service in our area is only like $45/month, regardless of whether you bundle it or not.

Okay, I take that back, it's $10/month more if it's not bundled.

Mine is bundled with the Internet..
and is costly..
This must change.
TV shows the same programs(some are good) over and over and there are far too many obnoxious advertisements.
Reform is needed, which the conservatives are sure to block.
But, twenty years from now, these reforms will occur and the conservatives can soak their heads... There will be a marriage, a melding of TV, cable, and the Internet..
There may not even be a Cable, FAIK.
Its waste which must be eliminated. Some , 1% , of commercials are of use.

I couldn't tell you since they don't break down the bundle, but I pay $109 a month for internet/TV/phone for Verizon's FIOS. It's a great deal, especially for the internet, since I get 25mb down/15mb upstream unlimited. Like most people, I download almost everything I watch, I can't remember the last time I actually had to tune in to see a show. I watch when I want to watch.

I get mine for "free" where I live... it's included in the rent

Do you seriously think it's a good idea for the government to start regulating the content of the commercials and the programs? If you don't like a commercial or show, feel free to ignore it or turn your TV off.

I'm not sure. We bundle cable and internet. Costs ~$115 a month.

When I was at the end of nuke school, living in upstate NY, my 3 roommates and I were able to split the cable bill with the 3 other tenets upstairs (we lived in a house that had been converted to a duplex). We each paid ~$4 for our cable. It was the best deal I have ever had. This was about 10 years ago though.

This makes me want FIOS in my area even more.

I could actually go faster, it's currently available up to 50mb down/25mb up, but it's probably not worth it at the moment. They keep promising 100mb up and down soon, probably by summer or Q3. After a while though, it's a lot of diminishing returns. I can already download a gig in a minute or two, is it really worth it to get a gig in a few seconds?

Unfortunately, if you don't currently have FIOS, you're not going to get it. Verizon stopped rolling it out, at least for the moment.
