Should dolphins be considered non-human persons?

In Spain dolphins are officially recognized as non-human persons. Scientists also claim that dolphins show signs of being both sentient and sapient (capable of advanced independent thought, similar to humans) and should be considered non-human persons. Do you believe that dolphins should be considered non-human persons?

Spain allows bullfighting, should they be experts in what is animal and what is man?
Hell, we hardly know ourselves what is what.
    A corporation is a "person".
    A fetus is a "thing".
I think that all of us should go back to school and pay attention this time..
Man has a long ways to go.

Dolphins, like apes and any other non-humans, should only be recognized as persons and given the rights thereof when they are capable of effectively demanding that we do so. Until they are capable of functioning as persons within our society, there is no reason that our society should award them any special recognition whatsoever.

I think we should let them vote and give them taxpayer funded abortions on demand.

I wouldn't go so far as to call them "persons," but they do display a level of intelligence that makes me think they are entitled to at least SOME protections, such as the right to life.
