Re: Should school uniforms be banned?

I, along with everyone else, would appreciate reduction in all of those things.

The problem is that gang-bangers will still use signs, handshakes, and texts to do what they do, uniforms, or not.

Cell phones are also banned. I see them or think that I see them and I confiscate them.

We do things a little differently here in the US. Some of our parents might oppose uniforms.

I'm an American and taught in northern and southern California at public and private schools with and without uniforms for over ten years. I have a more well rounded experience in education than most people you will ever meet. I know what I am talking about quite clearly.

Re: Should school uniforms be banned?

Ooo, I like that one. It's like the military.

Interestingly enough. You have fired one of my debate bullets. You may like it. Many may like it, many may not. The military is of course the top tier of uniform wearing. You cannot put students in uniforms and say that there is no connection to military indoctrination. At least not with a straight face.

There is no connection. You'll have to take my word that my face is straight.

I only brought it up because military members will also get in trouble off base, much like bodi's students can be identified off campus.

Once you understand the irrelevant and incorrect nature of that position you can... unless you think that there is also a retail store indoctrination and a roadside workers indoctrination and a nursing indoctrination and a Foot Locker worker indoctrination and an NFL official indocrination...

Re: Should school uniforms be banned?

No more gang signs, clothes, colors, etc.
No more games of "how much flesh can I show before they bust me."
No more "my brand is better than yours, so I'm better than you."
No more focus on clothes, so they can focus on learning instead.

Yes, I'm aware that the above aren't complete sentences. Tough.

Can't have any of that! What will we do? Get over it? Yeah, that seems like a good start.

Plus reduction in tardiness, discipling problems, sexual assault. You know. Little things.

Only one is legit. The other are meh, get over it.

The one that is legit however, is a hard lesson of life. Dress like you want it and you will get it. Lesson learned!

Ummm... what? Show some cleavage and get sexually assaulted. Lesson learned?

The Troll feeding pen is in the Basement. I'll stop in from time to time and toss you a bone.

"It" Kelzie... get over "it". Jeesh you are dense. Worse now since you are also pregnant. Don't like those comments? Get over it.

The others that you mention do not cover the whole student body. It's just a smokescreen. You know deep down that uniforming children gets them used to the idea of wearing uniforms. Perhaps they could practice marching during PE on a nice day.

 Well, they'd probably call it gym class.

Yeah, I used PE for physical education, but we called it gym class.

Oh, sorry. I saw PT. I thought you were trying to draw comparisons to the military again.

The whole of the student body? What? If the uniform is worn by all students, then the whole of the student body is covered just as they are in the military and just as all make-up ladies are in Bloomingdales and just as all NFL officials are wearing their zeebra outfits and just as all nurses are wearing their sexy little pink and blue uniforms. What I know deep down is that your assertion that there is any military indocrination occurring is plain and simple leftist paranoia.

What's PT?

I never took PE (gym) in high school... so I had no idea what those kids were doing.

Dress like a slut and get treated like a slut. I'm not saying its cool, I'm just saying its how it is and if you have a problem with it treat the people that assault them as criminals. Its not like everyone goes around assaulting these chicks damn. A punishment for all to treat a tiny problem is bull****.

If I have a problem with that? Well, society already does and that is why they are treated as criminal.

As to the dress like and get treated like, well, talk like that and get treated like you will....

I'm not paranoid. See that guy over there that keeps staring at me? He's paranoid.

So your point is that it's OK on the kids because there are hundreds of different uniforms being worn today by adults? There is also a large portion of the population that does not wear a uniform. Do not forget these people. You, are probably one of us. Did you wear a uniform during your compulsory education years?

I care, I really do.

Re: Should school uniforms be banned?

As well as members of the community calling in and informing the school or police that some kids dressed in our uniforms just committed some offense...

Yes, and noticing when kids are behaving themselves, and thinking, "What a great school that must be!"

It's about pride in oneself, as well as pride in one's school.

Bodhis is gone.

Dittoheadnot: Do you wear a uniform now? Did you wear one when you were in school?

Re: Should school uniforms be banned?

I wonder why some kids know how to behave themselves?

Is it that they were taught to behave themselves? Is it? Is it possible that teaching behavior and dictating behavior are two different things? No, of course not.

It's about pride in oneself, as well as pride in one's school.

Is it really? Pride in oneself comes from the accomplish of ones self.

Pride in ones school is crap. Who cares?
