Re: Should school uniforms be banned?

How does it go? when I was a child, I thought my father stupid, but when I became an adult, my father somehow got smarter.....
The problem with SOME kids, they don't learn, they grow to adults thinking they already have all the answers. We can only hope they don't reproduce before their brains get unscrambled...

aint that the truth... all adults suddenly started to sound smarter, really. but my dad specifically. I always thought he was smart, I just didn't know he was so insightful and aware.

Whatev. My dad still has no idea what he's talking about. Guess who the only Republican is in the family.

    Wow, that is sooo hypocritical!

There's actually a number of studies out there that would back up your argument. Use some of them. Nicely.
I already provided one thank you very much.

I would not doubt that comment, but that does not mean they have nearly enough wisdom or that someone much younger than them cannot have more wisdom.

I don't think that anybody is anywhere close to indicating that. If you are reading into that, then that is your problem...
There is no need for me to read anything into it as that is what was being said.

Actually, not only have I gotten the same exact impression as he, but I have written to that fact a number of times. "Naive" ring a bell?
I don't doubt that you got the same impression. On this matter you are like-minded so it is quite natural that you would use the same fallacious reasoning.

I gain many insights from people younger than me, much younger sometimes... just not you with regards to this.
Obviously because you are quite confident in yourself.

It has nothing to do with being inferior. Stop the drama already... it has to do with experience in the matter, something that you clearly and repeatedly show that you do not have. Hence, your opinions are next to worthless.
It has everything to do with seeing them as inferior. That premise seeps out of every word you people type.

Against you I am... and it is nothing that a child consciously ponders. More naivety...
I pondered a lot of things as a child that were not of a simplistic nature.

...and I presume nothing. You said that you were 18 just a short time ago, or something, not me.
I have never stated my age anywhere on this forum. All I said is that I had already turned 18 a while ago.

Again, I am not surprised that it worked that way for certain people here, but that does not mean it works that way for everyone. By that I mean sometimes the impressions someone has as a "child" are fully justified. Still, I never really went through a time in my childhood where I saw my parents as "stupid" and rather always tried to see both sides of a situation.

Like you would know. I happen to know that private schools perform better than public school on average because of improved discipline, which uniforms are a part of.

My parents went from DEM to REP in their old age. On average, they had nothing to say about most everything, but my one grandfather wasn't so quiet about the issues of the day. I was 14 before I learned that goddamdemocrats wasn't one word....

I have had the pleasure of long talks with elderly friends, in their 80's and beyond. They went thru some dark days. School uniforms is such a trivial issue compared to what they went through.

To us guys, we have a little liberty in that short time between being told what to do by our mothers, and that time we are told what to do by our wives....

You are still young, you will understand soon enough...
Learn what being a parent actually is about and not how you actually did it. The control you keep going on about is used for a purpose and its done in certain way to ensure understanding. Wow, so hard a concept, really it is. Old farts that hit their kids wouldn't understand though. Oh look, I can play the same game you guys are playing. Interesting...

If you wife is controlling you, leave her, seriously. Just because most men deal with that kind of **** doesn't make it right.

I hear being disrespectful is fine if you're a parent or teacher.
