I'm not overly concerned. I just hope the military is able to implement any necessary changes without undue problems.
In light of today's passing of the repeal of DADT in the senate, how long until the US military fails?
Those lawsuits wouldnt be mutli-million dollar events. I've never heard of the Army paying people money for a discrmination lawsuit, normally the goal of the accuser is simply to get the defendent kicked out of the military or serve jail time.
How do you know there won’t be multimillion dollar settlements? Is there something the DADT Repeal legislation that prevents it?
An active duty servicemember cannot sue the military/US government, even through proxy, while serving on active duty. All issues, especially concerning harassment and/or discrimination are dealt with through the chain of command.
It will be no different than any other moment in history - blacks, women . . . gays
But it's not like blacks and women were secretly serving or something. . . but still, the same concerns for them were presented at those times, too . . . has that ruined the military?
Hardly.
Doesn't matter anyway, finally - everyone will adjust and get use to it and get over it one way or another.
Women weren’t as easily accepted as blacks were. I think gays will have an even tougher time than women have had/are having but I trust our military men and women to be professionals about it, I always have.
My only concern is with the legal juggernaut the gay advocates have created. I hope they don’t turn into Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton types.
What militaries?
The problem wouldn't even exist if people didn't give a **** (about not wanting them to be 'open' about it - they're already 'in')
Maybe we should use this to downsize the military and sluff off those who merely serve to bring problems because they can't stick to the mission adn follow orders?
I don’t have a problem with someone being open about it in the military but a lot of gays have a tendency to be a little more than “open” about it and can be downright disturbing with their flamboyance at times.

Oh well - that's a different issue.
A cypris in the boggy creek.
It will not. To me the question is how long until women are allowed into co-ed combat units and how long until they have co-ed open bay showers.
I doubt you will ever see that in any of our lifetime's, BUT, it doesn't hurt to dream about it. LOL
Were you ever in the military?I don’t think it’s a question of “fail”, I think it’s a question of whether this weakens the military.
I think this weakens our military.

What weakens the military is a lack of public respect , ask those who served during the VietNam War.
Must be an Arkansas saying, I have to admit I don't get it.
