The biggest loser(s) of the 2010 tax compromise?

The biggest loser(s) of the 2010 tax compromise?

I think you mean the Republicans. They spend more than Democrats but just to different friends. And America is losing on this tax deal. Obama should NEVER have let Republicans put these tax gifts through! Its reckless spending that does NOTHING for the economy.

1) gift? the rich after the Bush tax "cuts" are paying more of the income tax burden than any time in history because lots of people on the bottom dropped off the roles

2) the problem is not with the rich or not taxing them enough. Its with the middle and lower classes who have been brainwashed into thinking that all deficit problems can be cured by making other people ("the rich") pay more taxes. Until the majority of americans have to pay and pay and pay, there will never be enough voters to put an end to the massive government expansion that started with the DEMOCRAT's NEW DEAL.

THe Bush tax rates are NOT SPENDING.

They are tax GIFTS. If America was a team the Republicans arent team players. Everything is always all for them and screw everyone else. They hide money and assets and cheat on their yearly taxes. And dont tell me they dont because I know a good deal of wealthy famlies that do. Its an unwritten rule! Or they pay huge bucks for a great tax guy that gets every loophole possible. Usually when all is done the IRS owes THEM money. SO dont give me this Boo-hoo-hoo cry baby story. Thats not EVERYONE mind you. Probably 40% - 65% of em.
Either way... I say screw em! Just like they look at everyone BUT themselves and say screw em.
We need Libertarians in the WH to call the shots and tell it the way it is.

Its a flawed question...none of this matters. They can cut taxes completely or double them...it wont matter as long as congress still spends money like they are on crack. Adding more tax revenue wont decrease the budget deficit or national debt...it will just give those assholes more money to spend.

what? i mean, nobody's going to accuse the Republicans of being fiscally sane on my watch; but have you been paying attention the last few years?

Ive been watching the last 20 years. Its a fact. Republicans spend more than Democrats.

It's over-exagerrated by a longshot, there is no faction here. Keeping taxe rates the same just means we have to aim at solely on the budget, which no one really wants to do but, must happen.

But that also suggests it won't happen. The GOP won't cut spending in their own districts and time and time again voters want to stop pork, except their own. By eliminating revenue increases at the same time the GOP won't touch Defense, Social Security and Medicare, there is no chance in hell we'll be able to get anywhere near the black.

America is doomed because the Republicans refuse to raise taxes and the Democrats refuse to cut.

We should enact a 5% sales tax nationally that's sole purpose to pay down the debt.

Dems. They have rejected bipartisanship, employed class warfare, and are to stubborn to compromise on a bill that Republicans and Obama agree with. They are the losers, and if they have their way with the bill we will all be the biggest losers.

This indictment of the Democrats' lack of bipartisanship is underwhelming in light of the unwavering, highly partisan solidarity shown by Republicans during the last two years. Besides, the Republican version of bipartisanship seems to be Obama lets them have everything their way.

Well it passed dispite the Dems crying, "If you don't punish the rich, I'm taking my binky and going home."

Picture the country if right now we removed everyone making 250,000 or more, out of the equation. Let's say we ship them all off to China or somewhere.
I wonder how many would think that would be a good idea because all we do is give the rich too many benefits or tax breaks anyway.

The driving forces behind oppression, damaging environmental policies, the abusive religious profiteers, and all of those people in the government that conservatives claim can't be trusted. They'd all be gone. Rational middle class people can take over as leaders of industries, and could run them for the betterment of the community at large, rather than for personal profit. The corruption could be taken out of the system. You know all that wasteful spending... THOSE ARE THE PEOPLE DOING IT! That would be the best thing that could ever happen. Get the bad guys out of town.

Very clearly, we are the biggest losers here. More benefits for the richest members of society, and more burden on the rest of us.

ITs people like you who lost the most--your desire to screw over those who already pay the most taxes took a beating. And in 2012-the GOP COngress will send up one choice-keeping tax rates the same for everyone. And if Obama vetoes it or the dems in the senate block it, we will have an election where the dems are jacking up taxes on the middle class (which would be a good idea in the sense that the middle class has gone too long thinking its the duty of the rich to pay for most stuff).

another interesting libertarian position=--=when the government takes less of your wealth that is a gift even if you actually have to pay a higher proportion of the income tax burden?

You obviously don't realize that pork and earmarks create jobs, and jobs is the only way out of the recession.

LOL, you obviously don't realize that more and more government is a cancer that is destroying this country

Good idea... With no buddy, buddy, business and political relationships, and new straight-shooting CEOs at the helms, commerce can finally give the people products that actually work they way they are advertised.

Most of all we will finally have proof that nobody is indispensable...

That is a really inane post. Your doctor probably is one of those people. lets get rid of all of them? great idea

raising taxes would not change that. the dems would keep spending in order to get elected.

Dem spending and Rep spending is about equal, but since spending means more jobs, and more jobs is the only way out of the recession, it really doesn't matter who spends the most.

Spending to promote irresponsible breeding by single women hardly creates jobs other than jailers, juvenile court judges and police officers

It's not a matter of money. The Fed Reserve will advance Congress all the money they need, and there won't be a 2010 deficit. Every year the FR makes up the difference.

Where do they get the money, don't ask. You really don't want to know.

You cant spend your way out of a recession, the Great Depression was prologned because of it.

Yes you can

You can spend your way out of a recession provided you have the savings to spend. Borrowing your way out of a recession caused by excessive borrowing to begin with however is problematic

That's a legitimate point but since CD was talking about the government it is a given it was based on borrowing
