At this rate, I'd throw In the towel...

It pains me to say that, we were all really rooting for him, and by we, I mean evil leftist socialists...

I am going to say yes, unless something happens over the next two years. He is a politician first and foremost and they want to get re-elected.

If he is going to act like he is now, you know, bringing about "change," then I hope not

Too early to tell. I think '11 will decide whether he runs again or not. After next year, he won't have enough time to do enough good to get re-elected. Maybe if Democrats stood behind healthcare reform and the new wall street regulations, and if american understood keynesian economics, we could call it right now...but as it stands, we have to wait and see.

He is a strong and confident man who does not give up easily.

Let us compare it with the Democratic Party of the late 1960s. It was severely fragmented, it faced the challenge of conducting a war to prevent the spread of Communism while facing strong opposition from Republicans in not doing it correctly. It had a recently killed President, with the Vice President trying to fill in those shoes, perhaps already being overshadowed by his predecessor, and Republicans were able to capitalize on all of the mounting weaknesses of the Democratic Party.

I think the Democratic Party is far stronger than the one found in the late 1960s. I think without that, Obama will easily run again.

Yes he will because, despite all evidence to the contrary, he thinks he's done a good job.

I certainly think he will. The Democrats don't really have anyone better who could possibly win the general election, save for Hillary Clinton. But (so far) she's not willing to run against him. Also, this tax cut compromise, his maintaining troops in Afghanistan, his refusal to close the prison camps in Guantanomo Bay, and other policies he's been doing lately suggests he is attempting "triagulation" - that is appease to certain concessions for conservatives in order to show himself a moderate in order to win over moderate and slight conservatives. So yeah, I'm pretty sure that Obama will run for re-election, especially since any prospective Democratic candidate will likely to be considered further left than he is, which will make that candidate less likely to win.

Yes, barring some as yet uncommitted SNAFU. He'll run. And he'll probably win. Very tough unseating the incumbant. Very tough. Only way I can see him losing is if the economy is still in the toilet. And, well, there's a pretty good chance it will be, actually.

I mean, one just has to watch footage of the DNC of 1968 to get perspective on contemporary politics.
