Do you think Newt is electable?

I really like Newt Gingrich....the man I've seen over the last number of years....the political pundit...yada yada yada. He talks a game I can relate to. He's also talking about a run at the presidency.

I can't help but compare him to John Edwards. (Newt came to the hospital when he wife was having cancer surgery to get divorce papers signed.) I also think that most people think John Edwards is the scumbag of all scumbags.

Is there a difference? Would his conduct years ago with his soon-to-be-ex prevent you from voting for him?

    Does not stand a chance.

One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.... John Rogers

Its not just the signing divorce papers in the hospital....its the fact that he was then cheating on THAT mistress all the while being a true hypocrite and condemning Bill Clinton. Newt has the ethics and integrity of a sewer rat. There is no chance that the country elects him. Zero.

Ditto with everyone else, and on top of that he's published a book saying how he is a big proponent of the individual mandate that Obama passed with health insurance and presumably the next Republican presidential candidate is going to be running as someone who will sign a bill to stop the healthcare bill. His hypocrisy will show on that issue again. It's just too much.

Absolutely not. Hell, all Clinton had to say to Newt was, "We're a lot alike, you and I," and Newt resigned shortly thereafter. Although I'm sure the gullible will swallow the rhetoric whole, as they have been. He's on FOX. He must be a good man, right?

Re: Do you think Newt is electable?

There was more to his image problem than that. Our current Majority-leader elect was one of those who wished Newt to be removed from Speaker of the House. This and other issues led Newt to not return to office even though he still had time to serve. There were numerous tug-of-war issues between Newt and many Republicans that made the relationship jarring, to say the least. Perhaps those wounds have healed about now, but I could easily see them becoming an issue once more, as people can have a difficulty in changing their leadership and/or working styles. Then, if the Iraq war ever became an issue again, he was the one who promoted Lt. Mcgreggor (sp?) to Rumsfeld, which gave ammunition to the idea that they needed less than 50 thousand troops in Iraq to make it work well.

Is everybody OK? And you see these incredible looking women, and so I sort of get away with things like that.

I don't know why I said Lt. when I meant Col. Macgregor.
