I am not allowed to celebrate the holiday as an atheist? It means celebrating the spirit of the holiday, and all the non secular aspects of it such as fun tales of santa claus for the kids, gifts under a pagan tree, tons of good food, togetherness with the family prior to a long season of being cooped up for the winter dark, a time of goodwill and giving, these are all wonderful aspects of the holiday which are secular (or at the least) pagan in origin.

The story of the passion of Christ is a small part of the holiday, there are many aspects of it that are totally unrelated and separate from that. This is not a closed holiday that is narrow in scope, this a holiday that is an amalgamation of many things, Christ being but one of them.

Much of what you say is fundmentally flawed, but it fuels our nation so I am at odds. Do what you want.

Actually that is pretty spot on. Most of the things we do on Christmas day are secular.

It means exactly what it says, Christmas with absolutely no religious overtones whatsoever. Santa Claus, presents, Christmas trees, being with family, etc. You know, what the overwhelming majority of people celebrate.
There is nothing demonstrably true that religion can provide the world that cannot be achieved more rationally through entirely secular means.

I think "overwhelming majority" is a bit of projection on your part.

Alot of things we do on Christmas has no religious overtones. I mean, Santa Clause has nothing to do with Christianity. Though, most people do celebrate Christmas as a religious holiday.
