    Do the political parties

Do the political parties accurately reflect the sentiment of their voters?

In other words, do you think the Dems in Congress represent those that vote Democrat, and the R's in Congress represent those that vote Republican.

Yeah, yeah... there are some who go both ways... don't care... no position for you folks.

One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.... John Rogers

To offer such an opinion would render it meaningless without specifics and narrowing it down to where we are actually talking about something identifiable. Which what I was attempting to do with my questions.

Thank you for changing your OP to reflect that somewhat.

Allow me to ask you a question to better explain what you are looking for here and advance discussion. How would you go about measuring if political parties reflect the sentiments of the people that vote for their candidates? What rubric are you applying here?

They are both all talk. They say what we want to hear to get elected and then do whatever gets the reelected and still in power. We fall for it every time.

I advocate voting for third parties.

Since I recently reached voting age, I'll be practicing what I preach.

Yeah, definitely. I went to the booth with my girlfriend (she's quite a bit older) and took a gander at the options. Nothing I really "liked," and there is no "NotA" option, sadly.

Still, a third party beats voting for one of our one-party state's factions.
