Your view: Food Stamps and Unemployment

On the House floor Pelosi then makes the claim that for every $1 spent on Unemployment, $2 goes back into the economy.

So what Pelosi would have us believe is that the more Food Stamps and the more Unemployment, the better off our economy will be. The question is, do you believe that?

“I think if Thomas Jefferson were looking down, the author of the Bill of Rights, on what’s being proposed here, he’d agree with it. He would agree that the First Amendment cannot be absolute.” - Chuck Schumer (D). Yet, Madison and Mason wrote the Bill of Rights, according to Sheila Jackson Lee, 400 years ago. Yup, it's a fact.

..... so she's arguing that paying people not to produce causes production to rise?

methinks mrs pelosi needs to have a quiet retirement to somewhere she can talk to trees and slowly continue to forget everyones' names.

is this going to be a poll?

No, that's not what she's arguing. How do you guys get so much wrong?

AUSTAN GOOLSBEE: I think the world vests too much power, certainly in the president, probably in Washington in general for its influence on the economy, because most all of the economy has nothing to do with the government.

I am suprised that she thinks that 1=2 is good math. I am looking for the irrational money needed to make this equation work.

I believe that if food stamps were truly our primary concern of government spending/behavior, we'd be sitting pretty right now.

Re: Your view: Food Stamps and Unemployment

Food stamps help a great deal with your ability to pay for things and keep on top of your other financial responsibilities.

With my situation as an example, without foodstamps we would probably have lost our house (rented) by now and we would not be able to afford to get another place to live. With no place to live, getting and keeping a job becomes difficult. Foodstamps helped keep us in a position where we can work and have that extra support that keeps us going.

I dont think what Pelosi said was 100% right or wrong, but I do know that if you give people the support they need and ensure they use it properly, you WILL reap the benefits.

Every single conservative on this forum now hates you. You evil money stealing piece of trash. How dare you use food stamps and use tax money for it? How dare you deal with real life and the decisions that come out of it? Why don't you just join NAMBLA or something. You'd be better off not getting food stamps. The free market would take care of you. Reagan, Goldwater, Reagan.

There is no reason to hate Hoplite as an individual. He is simply candid enough to speak the undisguised view of all leftists.

We don't hate Hoplite. We don't hate leftists. We hate Leftist Ideology.
