Palin rebukes Barbara Bush, family as 'blue bloods' after remark
11/24/10

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) denounced the Bush family as "blue bloods" in an interview posted Wednesday and remarked that a mentality like theirs helped to cause the economic downturn. Her comment came in response to a statement made by former first lady Barbara Bush during an interview with CNN's Larry King earlier this week. Asked for her take on Palin, Bush told King: "I think she's very happy in Alaska, and I hope she'll stay there." Conservative radio host Laura Ingraham followed up with Palin, asking if she thought Bush's comment had been planned ahead of time. Palin had this to say:

"I don't want to sort of concede that we have to get used to this kind of thing because I think the majority of Americans don't want to put up with the blue bloods — and I say it with all due respect because I love the Bushes — but the blue bloods who want to pick and choose their winners instead of allowing competition to pick and choose the winners."

She then invoked the economic crisis to explain her point.

"They [blue bloods] kind of do some of this with the economic policies that were in place that got us into these economic woeful times, too," Palin said. "So I don't know if that kind of stuff is planned out but it is what it is. We deal with it, and we forge ahead and we keep doing what we're doing."

sooo anyway, if the Bush clan are "Blue bloods", does that mean the Palins are Bourgeois?

WTF are "blue bloods" and how is she somehow not one?

I'd be willing to bet money she either "re-worked" an old label to mean whatever she wanted it to mean.

I think she meant "Blue bloods" as in old money families who are rich, powerful, and connected. as opposed to the Nouveau riche.

Mrs Palin has turned her family into reality tv mainstream media celebs... it's how they earn their money. I'm not surprised that a blue blood such as Mrs Bush doesn't approve since Barb raised her clan to be a political dynasty that spans generations.

The Bush's have only been "blue blooded" since the early 1900's, if anything, as a family, they are the epitome of the "self made man" pathos that American is based on.

I'm sorry, she's against old money and is being pushed as a 2012 REPUBLICAN candidate? The Republicans aren't exactly the young millionaires club.

Palin badly needs to establish her own storyline and stop trying to give tit for tat every time somebody of note issues even a small passing remark about her. It just makes her look small and petty.

Makes her LOOK small an petty? She is small and petty. Negative and whining is her mantra. And with that high pitched Barbi voice it really is grating.

She's really not doing herself any favors.

From the mouth of the reality tv family.

Supplying Americans with humor since 2008.

I don't agree with him politically, but we need more "blue bloods" like George Bush the senior. Being a war hero is something his blue blood status did not stop him from being.

This is a great example of the absurd disconnect we have in politics. Here is someone very plainly saying one thing, and yet supporting policy to promote the exact opposite. Most of our leaders do this, left and right. It leaves us with two questions. Why don't we pay more attention to what they do? And why do we believe them when they obviously lie?

Politicians do not respect the people foolish enough to vote for them..Being two-faced liars goes back to day one, 5K years ago...
We may try to "pay attention" to what they do, but they are so clever in hiding this......form letters, one-way conversations, Ivory Towers.

Palin should never talk about people class. If it wasn't for her 15 minutes of political fame. She would be on Jerry Springer asking who's my baby's daddy.

Yet another reason why Sarah Palin proves herself to be a "not ready for prime time" player. A leader...a class figure might say something like, "huh...Ive never met Barbara Bush but I understand she is a wonderful person" or even "interesting...well...every criticism is an opportunity to examine oneself and learn and grow" or simply, "I have tremendous respect for Barbara Bush and the role she played as First Lady" without responding and coming across as a petulant, butt-hurt child. I dont know who her advisors are or if she even has any...but if not she needs them and if she has them, they suck.
