It's hard for me to admit a mistake, especially if whoever I'm debating with is someone I'd consider a rival, and I'm also a proud bastard. But logically, there's no point in arguing beyond a point where you know you're wrong...

Bbbutt…..I thought all a person had to do, to win a debate, was to make the last post no matter how inane it is.

Can you admit to a mistake or admit you were wrong?

I recognize them . . . and might change in consideration of them.

But honestly - I don't often admit to them so much as I just am aware of them and move on.

I admit to mistakes or being wrong on a regular basis.... just don't tell my husband that:2razz:

Anyone who admits to making mistakes is admitting they still have something to learn. As long as you continue to learn you will continue to grow.

p.s. Strawberry rhubarb pie is delicious.

Seems I can. I just bitched out Ikari for something that was the result of my own misunderstanding and apologized, twice even.

I try to. Not always easy though.

If you give a good enough argument I'll come across to your side on specific issues. Tax cuts for example.

I just did in the what caused WWI thread. misread the title and thought it was about WWII

I admit to mistakes, when they happen, but that's rare.

My favorite quotation on this subject is from the title of Charles Barkley's book.

" I May Be Wrong, But I Doubt It"

I have only been wrong once in my life. I thought I was wrong but I wasn't

People thought the Dos Equis guy was wrong once. The aftermath was the Black Plague.

Eye would admit to a mistake if i ever made one.
