    Re: Is Obama.....?

    My two cents:

As I see it, Obama is a Democrat and a liberal democrat (or, as Europeans would put it, a "social liberal" or "social democrat"), but certainly not a socialist or even Marxist, that would be a huge exaggeration. But his policies make me think he believes in at least limited public responsibility for social fairness, which you may like or dislike for good reasons (and it's ridiculous to believe his policies are "socialist", or that he even believes in genuine class warfare or revolution of the working class, or abolishing private ownership of the means of production). There are several European politicians and parties who go even further regarding social fairness, who are still not socialist or even Marxist.

And he's black. That gives him naturally another perspective on American society and history, than rah-rah patriots from the right. The latter often completely ignore the bad sides and badmouth everybody who points them out, or just acknowledges them, as "hating America". Blacks, even when they are patriots who believe in America and love it, naturally don't have such a white-washed and rah rah view on their own nation. I do believe Obama does love America and is a patriot, but just because of that, he believes pointing out shortcomings in racial integration in order to improve them is necessary, because that's true love for your country -- you want it to become even better.

But then, I may not entirely understand the details of American political debate, because I am not American. This is just my impression.

Maybe that's why I have a problem with whites accusing blacks of racism in general: Blacks have been discriminated through American history and still are disadvantaged (their income and education average is still considerably lower than that of the majority, asfaik). White racism against blacks still exists, although it may be much more subtle than it used to be. And whites now projecting their own racism on blacks by calling them "racist" is one example.

But maybe I'm wrong. It just strikes me as similarly wrong as Germans blaming the Jews for the Holocaust, for example.

    Re: Is Obama.....?

You should have let us answer more than one. He is a Democrat. His fiscal policy is marxist and his social policy is socialist, hence Democrat. He is white, at least as much as he is black. He went to a black liberation church for more than a decade, if you went to any other denominational church for that long you would be considered part of that denomination. He is not a Republican. He considers himself to be a Christian, so he is definitely not a Muslim, although black liberation theology can blur those lines even though the religions themselves don't permit it. He is not Buzz Lightyear, Buzz Lightyear is way cooler. And he is not Emperor Palpatine, Obama is way cooler.

Intresting. Apparently Europe has a view of what is Socialism that is far further left than the common American view. What you are calling Socialism, we'd call Communism (as in, the further-left more-extreme version of socialism.)

Maybe that's why I have a problem with whites accusing blacks of racism in general: Blacks have been discriminated through American history and still are disadvantaged (their income and education average is still considerably lower than that of the majority, asfaik). This is where, I think, the fact that you aren't American and don't live here results in gaps in your knowlege.

The fact is that America has bent over backwards to make up for past discrimination. Equal-opportunity mandates in work, housing and education have been heavily funded, along with various social programs, to attempt to give blacks the "hand up" to assume full equality in society.

Furthermore racism against blacks is one of the most taboo of taboos in modern American society. Even the slightest hint of it can doom any career that involves being in the public spotlight. Interracial marriage and bi-racial children are now widely (almost universally) accepted, even in the South.

Some black folks have taken up the opportunities that have been created over the past 30-40 years, and now are middle-class businesspeople, doctors, lawyers, CEO's and other prosperous professionals.

Many have not. As Bill Cosby aptly said, this lack is largely or entirely the black community's own fault, for failing to grasp opportunity and in some cases preferring to hang on to victimhood and entitlement mindsets.

Racism is racism. A black who hates whites, is just as rascist as a white who hates blacks, and it should be acceptible to call it what it is.

Obama is Gregor Gysi, Lothar Bisky and Oskar Lafontaine wrapped into one, and is as slick as all three but lacks the intellectual firepower of the Gysi and Lafontaine. He's on par with and is as irritating and lost as Renate Kunast and her red haired sidekick Claudia Roth.

His home is Die Linke Partei.

Obama is a Democrat. He's a liberal Democrat. Not a commi, socialist, Muslim, etc.

What about his belief in spreading the wealth around and single payer health care? Isn't that enough to make him a socialist democrat?

President Obama is a Democrat, but not all that liberal. He's too willing to compromise just to get a consensus, it bites him in the ass.

You do know that the health care package is NOT single payer, right?

No, he is as black as me. I am also mixed and it does not matter who raised you. I am not certain what you consider "black" but how you talk and your knowledge has nothing to do with race.

In most places you are what you look like, period. Does not matter what you are mixed with.

No such thing as a "Field nigger" or "house nigger" anymore as they no longer exist. We are just black people.

President Obama, may be as close to an "African American" as you can get though, lol. I am not an "African American." Don't give a rats ass about Africa and no one in my family was born anyplace but the US for 150+ years.
