Do You Understand Repression & After Effects of Slavery?

The original poster I honestly find slimy and disgusting; just my personal opinion. What with calling everyone racists and expecting not to be called out on it. As a black man, such people disgust me; you think black people can't have sense enough to be conservative and think for themselves? But I suppose that since I was raised well by a white family to have morals and responsibility, that must make me an Uncle Tom? The point? Don't you dare call people racists and seek to inject race into every post and expect to not be met with indignant responses. If you don't wish to be a focus on your topic, then don't make yourself one.

Reparations is bogus. Black folk have had many, many years to work hard and succeed. I go to the ghetto and what do I see? Trash strewn everywhere, people dressing all "gangsta" while walking with their shorts past their knees, drugs and guns held illegally, laziness and disinterest in hard work, great suspicion and hate for the white man, a severe lack of education, and a lack of respect for themselves and their women both in acts and music. Hate what I say? Too bad. By those who would demonize any white man for saying such, I suppose you can't call me a racist, hmm? How about this: work hard, quit blaming others, take responsibility, and maybe you'll succeed just like other races. Are you telling me you can't?

No, I understand that there's still a lot of claimed repression, especially from blacks who want to keep claiming repression as a part of the "so... give me something!" mentality. If people are poor or "mistreated", often a lot of it has to do with their own views and behaviors. It's certainly not part of any "slavery after-effects". Slavery was a long time ago. Get over it.

You tell her Cap! :) It isn't nice to call someone a racist without proof.

Kali should have been warned/infracted as well, since he/she is blindly calling people racists. People with that sort of blind mentality annoy me the most, where anything you think or say is "racist."

Focus on the topic; do not attack posters.

Ya know CC, I don't think in this case they are completely unrelated. In many of her posts, I see Kali as some sort of white race apologist. This is not really up for debate. I also think a source of fuel in her case is her affinity toward another race, and how she has to "justify" the treatment of her "peeps" as maintaining some level of self-perceived innate blackness so she can satiate her specific desires, which we will not go into here.

My bottom line is that, especially in this thread, debating a poster and debating a topic are really not separate issues. In fact, they are incredibly intertwined here.

This is true. The way Kali calls others racists is what prompted me to call him/her a moron. I'll accept my infraction, but I feel Kali should at least be warned. I'm no moderator, I just dislike it when "a" calls "b" racists, "b" indignantly shoots back, and then "b" gets infracted.

EDIT: On a side note, I like the quote in your sig.

I would be very, very shocked indeed if the OP received an infraction. Evidently referring to someone as racist with no evidence is accepted in some circumstances.

Now that we've completley gone off topic and are now discussing infractions.

Let me throw this one out.
I think Native Americans are still oppressed. Poor them and if anyone deserves reparations and special treatment, It would include them and the Aboriginals in Australia.
Even thanksgiving, isn't that basically celebrating the massacre of NA which is kinda sick tbh.

Interesting. Using the failed logic that blacks should have reparations and are justified in their own internal machinations, I suppose NA should as well? Perhaps Mexicans as well since we have some states from their territories? Just give back those states, perhaps?

I am a Southerner and I deserve reparations as well. I mean, look at the stigma placed on me now thanks to that whole Civil War episode. Now as a white southerner I have the albatross of slavery hung around my neck even though NO ONE in my family ever owned a slave. There's the whole damaged and destroyed land/infrastructure/economy issue as well. So, where's my reparations?

I absolutely understand. Being black I did not have to make excuses to be successful or anything else. Every problem in my life I created and I take responsibility for. That is the issue here, it is so much easier to blame someone or something else for your own failures.

What the heck? Why are 2 "somethings" showing up?

Do you understand repression and the effects that slavery brought that still exist in the U.S.A. today?

This is my first poll up here and sorry if belongs somewhere else and I did screw it up. lol.

I understand that there's not a single black person, alive today, that was ever inslaved, so that's no excuse, for anything.

We are all slaves. Slaves to the taxes, slaves to our jobs, slaves to the law. You can't say slavery has been eradicated. The only non-slaves are the people in power.

I am familiar with repression. And can try to understand it too. For the people here that say 'give me a break'... how about if YOU were the VERY unwanted minority? And no one wanted to give YOU a job because of your skin color? PLUS the physical threats of violence..... the burning of crosses.... the needless killing and torture of people that were of your skin color....
I can also say that Ive not exactly been to innocent in this matter. Buuuuuuuut.... Ive had a large amount of reverse-racist **** happen to ME. ANyhow my Italian upbringing didnt exactly favor blacks.

I'll pass that idiot up and go find someone who does want to give me a job. It's not all that hard.

Anyone who would pass up a topshelf hand, such as myself, because of my skin color, isn't someone I would want to work for, anyway. So, in the long run, they did me a favor.

That's why I'm a Conservative.

Obviously there is some stigma attached to being of the race that was formerly in slavery. The African-Americans were treated like second class citizens from 1860 to 1964, and later in some areas, Things keep getting better as the old guard dies off, yet repression still exists here and there in America.

The, "repressed", in this country are so, because they put themselves there.

This racist post is a prime example of the after effects.

It's racism to expecct people to responsible for their own actions?

Doesn't matter, racism is racism and repression is repression.
Now go on this
-situation- An African American goes and eats KFC as often as a white person does. But theres a sterotype that Black people like Chicken. so the white man makes a racial remark.- what do you think?

You're kidding right? I don't know a single white person who would THINK anything of it, much less remark on it. Like you said as many whites as blacks eat at KFC. Most people do like their fried chicken.
Gawd, I just thought of something. If I invite a black person over, should I avoid serving fried chicken now? After all he might think I'm stereotyping him.

I never heard of this Black/chicken stereotype until I frequented these boards. This is limited to just US but as many Whites like it as well

I love my chicken, someone would have to pry it from me to stop me from eating meat in general. I don't know any Black person who doesn't like it*

*Unless they are vegetarian and I have never seen a vegetarian/vegan black person either

It depends. Are you inviting him over BECAUSE he's black? If that were the case, you could be guilty of singling him out because of race, and that would be unacceptable
