    Re: Will Obama be re-elected?

History has shown that when a first term President's party loses big in midterms they usually get re-elected.

Very true. Boehner is the new Nacy Pelosi, not just because he's the speaker but also the lightning rod for criticism.

Three of the last five didn't.

The problem with Obama is he has a record he cannot run away from this time.

Hope, Change, The One We Have Been Waiting for, and Yes We can just won't cut it this time, and his litany of broken promises and shady deals to shove trillions in debt down our and future generatins throats will not be soon forgotten. He and his journOlists fooled 'em once, it's not going to happen a second time.

Usually yes, but this is not the usual environment, and we could also look to history and say Democrats are 1-termers, with the exception of The Clintons.

    No?

First of course he has to win his party's nomination should he be challenged.
I say yes. As long as the media including Fox news keeps trying to prop up Palin Obama will have a 2nd term.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

ah, but who has the final approval authority?
The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter.

If there is gridlock it's because neither party is willing to work with the other. The Republicans control the House and the SCOTUS, the Democrats control the Senate and the Presidency. That means they both share blame. It is stupid to hold just one party accountable.
