    That would be because the information on that particular thing is highly reliable and easily understandable, making any conclusion easier to reach and less prone to error.

    As the subject gets more complex and/or information less reliable, than the chance of error increases.

    Unfortunately until we absorb a significant enough amount of information in our lives (personally) all thought must be structured in a framework of unknowing.

    This is completely true. I believe this is why we naturally tend to look for patterns. To make connections through that gulf of a lack of information.

    Well, one expression of it would be superstitian. Someone either noticed or thought they noticed a correlation between two events (black cat and something bad happening) and the pattern matching in our brain linked them up.

    Another one is when we get sick while eating something, we tend to not want that to eat again. In that case, our body is trying to detect patterns in an effort to defend itself.
