He does? Saul was not a desciple of Jesus. He did not attend Jesus' sermons. He not only never even met Jesus, but he persecuted those who followed Jesus. How is it, again, that he speaks for Jesus?

If that is all you see, you have not read much of the Bible.

Quickly: Paul was considered by some a profit and apostle. Some consider him neither. Look to the holy spirit to guide you and you can't go wrong.

Seems to me that if one truly respects Jesus, one would honor Him by figuring he was a sharp enough to know what was important and what was just the stuff of social convention. If the Son of God is so incapable of prioritizing, then who among us should really follow suit. eh?

That is so distorted it's not even funny.

He knew what was coming, he knows what has been. Jesus never interfered in politics either (for example,) because his teachings were about spiritual salvation, no political subjects. Nor where they about worldly wants outside of what we need. His law is a spiritual guide to salvation as is Paul's teaching.

ALL religion is oppresive! Christains don't run countries like Muslims do b/c they are not theoracies!

Well I don't agree on abortion purely along secular lines. That however is for another thread.

The fact is if we as Christians do not preach the message of Gods love, we are not preaching the correct message. We should be preaching that immorality separates you from Gods love. and puts your soul in danger. Not that homosexuals are bad people or deserving of death.

I do not support same sex marriage either but we have a secular government. It is the responsibility of our government to protect the minority form the majority.

Jesus preached we are to lead by example. He gave us a guide for our spiritual salvation, not a system of government.

I am all over the place now. I am done.

I'm trying to discern where you stand on the issue of homosexuality. Would you enlighten me please?

Perhaps if you use more exclamation marks, that will get them on your side.

People who are gay are no more than adulterers or fornicators or any other sinner. No sin is committed until they lust after someone else or preform sexual acts. At that point they can still be forgiven as none of us are righteous or without sin.

So it is not a sin to be a homosexual/lesbian. It is the actions that make it sinful.

I don't believe they are born that way. However, I surmise it's from choices and influences. It's a sin that one should repent of.

As I always say: Hate the sin, not the sinner.

Though I find homosexuality immoral and disgusting, I would risk my life defending such a person from a threat of death.

IMO, nobody ever told anyone to hate sin. Sin is simply not adhering to God's rules. It doesn't make sense to hate it. It's like hating it when somebody cheats at a game. Someone can hate cheating all they want, but that isn't going to make the cheater atone for doing it and it isn't going to bring either person any closer to their God.

I hate sin because it corrupts the soul and leads people to hell. I hate the sin of murder, etc, etc. If you cannot even hate sin, then do you hate nothing?

Hm, even with the pink writing. You have a point.

The only reason Christianity is not as messed up as Islam is because it has been tamed by the rise of Atheist, secularism and ofc. The Enlightenment. Christianity as a political system would be as oppressive, dangerous and unfair as the Sharia in Islam.

And on topic, African Christians killing Gays? Lulz. That isn't news.
Most if not all religious African countries have a massive problem with Gays. Both in Christian and Muslim countries because of text and religion that feeds this hatred

You should see Uganda's own magazine which "outs gays" so they can be beaten.

This is correct, at least for me. I don't "hate" sin although I do not condone it. It has more to do with sadness (for me anyway) than hatred.

Sin is sin and none is more "perverse" than the others. Please point out where in the Bible it says to turn your back on those who have sinned? Their is indeed twisting going on here, but not by me.

Romans 5: 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God

Do I really have to keep going?

No you don't, but giving homosexuality a place of honor is also not required to fulfill the commandments of Jesus. If all sins are equal, then we shouldn't jail anyone. Nevertheless should homosexuals receive the death penalty? Of course not.

Jesus hung out with lepers and all manner of sinners. Has nothing to do with a place of honor. Man's criminal law is not Gods law for our spiritual salvation. In the end God will judge them and if they are righteous, he will not turn away from them, and neither should we as we are sinners as well.

Matthew 9:10-13 10 While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and sinners came and ate with him and his disciples. 11 When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”

12 On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 13 But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

Homosexuality is a perverse sin that must be preached against. Just because no one is harmed... does not make it not a sin. Punishable by death? No, NO, NO!!! There is no debate as to whether they should or should not be killed; Imo this thread should be locked since trolls keep screwing up the poll. The government in whatever that country is is misinformed; death shouldn't be an option.

All sin is perverse and should be preached against. The problem is people have taken homosexuality and makes it seem like the deadly sin around, it's not and we all sin.

The poll being screwed up has nothing really to do with he debates. It remains on topic and civil.

Homosexuality is neither one of the lesser or greater sins. I rank homosexuality below abortion and above stem cell research. To say we all sin (which we do), and make it seem as though all are equal, then one must think they all should have the same punishment.

No. Gods law if for our spiritual salvation, not a system of government. Has to do with the whole "render unto Cesar" thing. Far to many Christians don't seem to be able to separate the two.

It is this thought process which leads to violence against Gays in Africa. Rejection of Gays leads to demonization of them and ends up in violence.

Religion: Proudly ****ing up the world for 2000 years and counting :doh

@ Blackdog: So we should conform to the government's rules and not fight for God's rules in a civil, passive, and legal way? What if the government were to penalize Christianity? Would you still hold to your "render unto Cesar" thing?

Your thinking is perverse, unfounded, and just plain wrong. Read my post history and gain understanding, lest I consider you an ignorant fool.

Oh no I understood it.

But it is that first thought process (which I helpfully highlighted, guess you didn't notice) that homosexuality is a sin and being gay is perverse which leads to demonization of gays because holy text rejects them. Have you understood what I have said?
Both Christianity and Islam are responsible for this hatred of Gays in Africa and both religions play a part as to why Uganda has passed this bill. Well, more Christianity in Uganda because the country is majority Christian

It is not hatred of homosexuals. It is not bigotry, either. We dislike the sin, yet you transform that into hate, bigotry, and other ignorant accusations. If you can understand this, and understand that there are those who consider themselves Christian who truly err, then you will understand the err within your post. You think the Bible was written by ignorant and bigoted men, but no, it was written by Godly men who were filled with His Spirit. Tell me of Speaking in Tongues and the fact it happened 2,000 years ago, as well as today. These were Godly men who wrote these chapter who were influenced by God.

Yes and yes.

Romans 13:1 1 Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.

Prov 8:15-16 Because of me, kings reign, and rulers make just decrees. 16 by me princes govern, and nobles—all who rule on earth.

What if the government were to penalize Christianity? Would you still hold to your "render unto Cesar" thing?

Yes because it is God's will we follow the law of the land.

Does this mean we should condone sin and not be part of the government? No. But we are bound by God's law to follow and recognize the governmental authority which he says he put in place.

But government can be disgusting and immoral. See Nazism, communism, socialism, and various tyrants/dictators/despots of our past. You think we should be eradicated should such governments declare it? By your argument, if we even flee, we do wrong; that supposedly we must follow said government's demands.

We all know from listening to Liberal wackos all the time that we must learn to be Tolerant so I say we need to respect their laws.

And if you're a Liberal don't go there.

So what? This is all part of Gods plan. I choose to follow what he said, not what I want.
