Or eradicate it all together through law enforcement. I think the state could make a profit by reducing jail time and fining pimps and prostitutes once they catch them.

Which is why you preform sting operations.

I mean enforce laws against prostitution, actually doing something legally about it instead of turning a blind eye and lightly enforcing anti-prostitution laws.

Law enforcement has never eradicated anything.

No one here living in Nevada? Is Mustang Ranch still open?

You know Gipper, I am sick to death of the way you repeatedly insult women here.

There's a simple solution. Here's a hint - it has six letters. Starts with an I.

Just because you can't manage to get yourself laid, you have no right to attack an entire gender and get away with it. Were you insulting Blacks, Asians, Muslims ... etc you'd be infracted. You may think your "humor" is cute, but it's not in the least.

Want me to pretend that hurt for a second so you can get some sort of esteem-based satisfaction out of it?

I don't give a damn what you think is "cute" or not. I also don't care what you think is infraction-worthy either.

Has it ever occurred to you that women HAVE JOBS and are simply not out to live off someone else's money? Before I gave up my career to stay home with my son, I made more money than my husband. Selling a lucrative business enabled me to contribute financially as well as giving me the time we both wanted to raise our son. Your constant insistence that women sponge off men is not only insulting and archaic, it's just plain WRONG.

I give a damn. No...really...I do.

Stick to the basement, sweetheart. On-topic intellectual viewpoints don't speak to your strengths. When I think your opinion of me matters, I'll let you know.

Dang... and I got a friendly warnign for saying 'learn to read, you'll look smarter'? I mean... dang.

Regulate it. Tax it. And in the words of Nike - just do it.

All men pay for sex. Sometimes they just do it in the form of a marriage or a relationship.

Trust me - it's cheaper to buy a hooker.

Don't forget - women will get the chance to visit male prostitutes.

At least if it's legalized it won't be run by criminals.
I wish that were true.
Consider politics, advertising, real estate, the financial institutions.
But I consider lying to be criminal.
On prostitution - legalize, tax and control it, but first the shackles of the church must be thrown off.

How is that relevant? I'm a college kid, I'm aware of how wicked the adult world is.

It is relevant in showing that your notion of eradicating prostitution is about as likely as eradicating parents yelling at their children, or drinking... that worked really well, didn't it? It is literally impossible to eradicate prostitution because all that has to happen is two people have sex at somebody's house and money is handed over. Any one of us could do that tonight. Just give your girlfriend/boyfriend $20 bucks for some sex and see how impossible it would be for the government to even know about it, much less enforce it towards any level resembling eradication. Naive is putting it nicely...

Yeah..... because we all know pimps will simply disappear once it's legalized. That doesn't make any sense. Legalized prostitution in Amsterdam has proven more than profitable for illegal organizations. It's called 'human trafficking'.

HumanTrafficking.org | News & Updates: Debating Legalized Prostitution

Legalization led to open season on prostituted women in the Netherlands. Organized crime took over the sex industry, and this is the main reason why 30 percent of the window brothels have recently been shutterd by the mayor of Amsterdam. Because they had become a haven for traffickers and unsafe for women, Amsterdam and Rotterdam have also closed down their tipplezones -- what some call tolerance zones, but in truth are out-and-out “sacrifice zones” where certain women can be bought and sold.

Germany’s legalized prostitution system has become a magnet for sexual exploiters, so much so that Germany has become the destination of choice in Europe for traffickers. Legalization in the State of Victoria in Australia has encouraged 3 times more illegal than legal brothels. Even the Australian Adult Entertainment Industry acknowledged that the illegal sex industry is out of control there. At the same time, many legal brothel owners have been involved in setting up and profiting from illegal brothels. “Customers” want more “exotic,” younger, cheaper women and those who can be induced not to use condoms. Victoria has the highest rates of child prostitution of all the states and territories in Australia.

I think the best way to address this would be to legalize prostitution but criminalize pimping and brothels. Basically, force every prostitute to be a one-person business, and every prostitute will be forced to undergo education classes and certifications in order to become one. Certified prostitutes will be able to advertise themselves as such, and take money away from uncertified prostitutes.

that's still not going to stop a crackhead from offering to blow you for $20.

That is true...

But why would I accept a $20 blowjob from a crackhead in the street who might have a partner ready to mug me and take all the cash in my wallet when instead I can get a $20 blowjob from a licensed professional prostitute in the safety of her place of business and keep the rest of my money so I can buy a pack of smokes and a Mr. Pibb afterwards?

Most prostitutes don't have "pimps" anyway.

Why would anyone pay any money for a dispassionate blowjob?

Why would anyone pay any money for a dispassionate blowjob?

Because sometimes all you want is a blowjob and not dinner, a movie, obligatory small talk, etc. Just sex. Easier to pay someone where that arrangment is understood than to spend hours or several nights trying to find someone willing after buying them a few drinks. So, in the long run, it's FAR cheaper, and far less time consuming.

Legalize it and most drugs. Another beneift is we will reduce the population of our jails by about 70%

Evidence? LMFAO. I love these kinds of wild-haired baseless claims from people who clearly have no idea what the actual statistics are.

Forget your personal views of it, should it be legal or not?

Against it.
I always cite the inherently dangerous atmosphere of it.
Everyone ends up arguing to heavily regulate it to ensure safety, etc . . . and then cites the Red Light District.
Then I cite the Red Light District slowly being shut down because, even though it's very heavily regulated in many ways, it still can't keep crime rings at bay.
And here we are - I'm still against it.

So - that's concerning the *business* aspects of it in an organized and regulated environment which, in the end, would just burden everyone - taxpayers, legislators and so forth.

I do believe, however, that if someone wants to risk their lives and prostitute (giving or receiving) then that's their body, their choice - they can do what they want. But they shouldn't look to the government or corporate-evils to protect them.

I'm in favour. Here in New Zealand prostitution is legal, and because of that I have never experienced any prostitutes coming up to me asking if I want to have sex like they did all the time at the main street in Norway. Our red light district is Karangahape Road (aka K Road) and you safely walk there in the middle of night.

First off I don't see why men can't buy sex if it's done in a proper manner. Secondly, legalizing it takes away the black market because you rather want to have sex at a official place so you don't get STDs or get robbed. Thirdly, the prostitution industry didn't increase after decriminalization.

"More than 60 per cent felt they were more able to refuse to provide commercial sexual services to a particular client since the enactment of the law."

There's nothing wrong with brothels. There are severall brothels here, and they are fine. Actually street prostitution is causing more problems.
