Do you know how to drive a vehicle with a manual transmission and if so, do you prefer manual or automatic?

I ask because I am amazed at how many people I've run across lately, that can't drive a stick. I guess I just assumed that at some point, everyone learns how - but I'm learning there are a TON of people who can't and who have no desire to learn.

I prefer a manual transmission because it allows me more control of my vehicle - especially in bad weather.

I've never driven a manual, and unless I start driving a tractor-tailor I highly doubt I ever will. There's just no need.

I live in NYC, and I think driving here with a manual would be very annoying and maybe dangerous.

I never knew so many people had such specific requirements for their trannys.

all about manual! I had never even seen an automatic till I moved to the states!

Manuals make driving somewhat fun still. My car has a is a 4-cyl turbo, with about 220hp. It's geared really nicely though, so it almost feels like a vtec, and that combined with the turbo and manual transmission makes it quite a fun car to drive (while still getting great gas mileage in the city). It's weird to see how many voted manual, considering most people do not drive one.
