What? This election has nothing to do with the Tea Party as Meg Whitman is far from a tea party candidate.

The GOP is under the sway of sarah palin or haven't you heard? Bought and paid for.

Re: A modest proposal ...

right.. all you did was make a silly suggestion about politicians making their names unknown etc.. which is a retarded suggestion and an exaggeration beyond all reality and I'm the one who has to think about it? I mean if regulatory powers are removed from government and the government public services are made private how valuable to do you think a vote will be? If you want more political apathy then you make your government useless.
I never said anything about this. The thread is about campaign reform, remember? Can you focus on one thing at a time instead of going way off on some unrelated tangent?

No I know you didn't say anything about it. Just wanted to point out the bias against campaign reform.

Libertarians aren't just biased against campaign reform -- we're straight-up against it. Now what the hell that has to do with a private police force ...

lol.. dear lord. Didn't you just answer the whole thing with your post. Not only are you against campaign reform but against government regulation of any sort and open to privatise most all state services including military.. cough* Blackwater. You are admitting what I was complaining about. Good for you. At least you understand you are interested in turning the vote into a joke

Re: A modest proposal ...

I think campaign finance reform is only an attempt to keep politics in control with the "in crowd" in both political parties and to prohibit any political dissent under penalty of law. So I do think it should be repealed.

heh.. thats the problem. Instead of voters being concerned with the policy they get entranced by the media coverage.. usually the one who gets the most coverage. It really is silly to argue that policy is secondary to the amount of media exposure a politician can buy. Why would you want people to be focused on whomever gets the most exposure in the media over what they are actually planning to do?

And how can you tell what a politician plans to do before they get into office?

Well you take them on their word and polices.. thats what they say you know their platform. heh.. Didn't think that this was that hard to grasp.

 You're completely and totally wrong, as usual.

Clearly any sort of non-stupid reply to you is a total waste of electrons. Since you can't seem to stay on track and are more interested in putting words in my mouth then actually saying something remotely intelligent and coherent, I'll leave you to your own devices.

lmao.. nice rebuttal. But hey what does it mean to have anti regulatory idiologically driven politicians anyhow?

Considering how well that's worked in the past, I think voting for whoever puts on the best show with flashing lights and fireworks most often is just as valid.

Sarah Palin has not endorsed Meg Whitman, as far as I know. And if the GOP is under the sway of Sarah Palin, then why is GOP establishment staying away from Palin-backed Christine O'Donnell? Furthermore, how do you explain the fact that there are two major components to the two party: the Sarah Palin faction and the Ron Paul faction?

Re: A modest proposal ...

We should also prohibit candidates from showing ads with their likenesses, since some people may vote for one candidate or another based upon his physical appearance and not the issues.

Also, we should prohibit candidates from using their names, since that can tell voters about that person's sex and possibly about their race and/or nationality. There's all kinds of people who vote based on those criteria and not on policies.

Lets just all pick a name from the phonebook and throw them all in a hat.

3 candidates. 2 pool cues. 1 wading pool of KY. Last one alive serves the term. 'Nuff said.
