What??

He has 15 million listeners to his radio show everyday.

Ed Schultz averages around 600,000 viewers a night.

Yeah, that's some real solid competition. :lamo

McDonald's has served 50 billion. Does that mean they have good food?

This is a reason to watch something? wth.. dear lord man.

I actually laugh really hard when I come across some name or face that most people have not heard of and he thinks they are evil or something entirely unique..when they are not. I tend to study intellectual history, so for me, it is glorious entertainment. Now, if someone wants to talk to me about something, like SDS or whichever, and come with exactly what Beck talked about, then that can get more complicated to debate with-because people don't know. They saw something on tv or in a movie, read a really bad book, and that's all they did, and ran with it.....that can get frustrating, but that's life.

I can see the entertainment value of it.. but this is to deep for many appearently to grasp. So for me it comes off as not funny in that light.

His Guilt by association is something I was doing on my own with Obama as soon as he came into the picture during the election.
I wouldn't call it a trick. I would call it, here are the facts, come to your own conclusions. That's also what Beck says.

Well, the thing is....Beck says come to your own conclusions, do the research, but that does not really in anyway make him modest on the program. He is incredibly sure about what he thinks, believes it is absolutely true, and his recent fact versus opinion schtick is not taking away from the fact that he is painting a picture that is more picaso than a realist. For the most part, you have to buy into his grand theory of "progressivism is bad" because anything that is seen as bad is then connected with progressivism, but not with much else-even if it was connected with an incredibly diverse segment of the population who were not progressives. His war on progressives has made his show blind to complexity of ideas and the differentiation of individuals and groups.

Look, liberals do it all the time. Most people will do it. I have almost (almost) given up trying to get into a Socratic dialogue everytime I see someone use the word "neocon", because most of the time, there is no forethought given to it when it is written.

If it walks like a chicken, clucks like a chicken, looks like a chicken.. it might well be one.

Glenn says the same thing about progressives.

Wow. Thanks for demonstrating exactly the close-mindedness that fiddytree was referencing.

I'm a neo-conservative, in the historic sense. I'm a social liberal, a fiscal conservative, and a hawk on foreign policy.

At least progressives don't pretend to be a messenger of god or preacher of a said unproven religion that is bias for capitalist utopian ideals.

And your point is? Neocons don't exist? which ?

No, but they can pretend to be the messenger of history in an unproven basis believing in some sort reformed utopia.

I think her point was that sometimes ideas are complicated and not so clear-cut. My point was that there were usually slim basis for supposedly being a neoconservative (ie. anyone who supported the war in Iraq).

That there is a wide range of thought that you want to slap that label on. And in your mind, it means a couple of specific things. You don't understand neo-conservativism, and yet you want to vilify it. That's sad. How dare you talk about how unintellectual Glenn Beck listeners are? You fall prey to the same mental traps.

Oh.. I guess I am a neocon to because I supported the war in Iraq till they found out the intel was bunk.

And I'd say that is perhaps unlikely. Nevertheless, it was a common social identifier to liberals, for some reason.

Beck is an entertainer posing as a political expert. His JOB is to sell advertisements. He does this by putting on a very entertaining show. I do think he is bad for America though. He makes already ignorant and upset people warped with exaggerations and wild connections to "Leftist takeovers". He preaches hate, screams, cries and exaggerates almost everything. I have heard him yell that he wants to kill people with a shovel. Come on. If you think for one second that he has a show on TV that's intention is to better the country or enlighten you your crazy and deserve each other. I hope you put ALLLL your money in priceline gold.

He is entertaining. I love the school room blackboard. Makes me feel like I am learning something. When he can twist a word to mean some fantastic plot by the democrats I laugh every time.

I see it like this. They interviewed this body builder once who sold a work out drink. Based upon the picture you assumed you would look like that if you drank it. Nobody seamed to get results so they asked this body builder if it was a Fake product. Turned out he was taking roids like crazy and said "Anyone who thinks I just use those drinks to look like this is a fool." But that's what they were selling the drinks as. Anyone who listens to Beck and thinks what he says is factual or correct is a fool. Anyone who thinks that HE believes what he is saying is a fool. He is an entertainer!!

I am no pacifist. Though I think that the end of the cold war should have marked reduced spending in military endeavours. I dislike defencests arguments that create an enemy that doesn't exist.

I agree with this, as well. Do we have enemies? Sure. We never again want to be caught where we were in 1939. Do we need to be afraid of our own shadows? Of course not.

Ancient history, the current way to make that point is potato, potatoe. Ask Dan Quayle, he'll tell you the consequences of getting it wrong, especially when attempting to correct a child who is spelling it correctly...

This doesn't completely exonerate him, but here is how the potato, potatoe thing happened.

His most famous blunder occurred when he corrected student William Figueroa's correct spelling of "potato " to "potatoe" at an elementary school spelling bee in Trenton, New Jersey on June 15, 1992. Although he was relying on cards provided by the school which included the misspelling, Quayle was widely lambasted for his apparent inability to spell the word "potato". According to his memoirs, Quayle was uncomfortable with the version he gave, but did so because he decided to trust the school's incorrect written materials.

Evidence about beck has been presented on MANY threads, not least of which the one I linked on THIS THREAD. You apparently have ignored it all. Why should we continue to present evidence to someone who clearly has no intention of actually reading it?
I wanted evidence that goldline is a scam. I already know what your OPINION of Beck is.

I always thought Dan Quayle got a bum rap. He wasn't a total moron, just inarticulate.

Personally, I do think Glenn Beck is a fake. I don't want to discredit his message, but as an individual I think he is fake. I think he tries to cater to traditional Christian conservatives in order to make money. He's very dramatic, and seems almost like a political charlatan to me. Not that I think everything he says is bad or wrong, but I do believe Beck as an individual is a fake who is manipulating people.
