You will get NOWHERE with abstinence only education while there is a whole industry dedicated to selling sex 24/7 via every media channel available

Abstinence works for those who practice it. That doesn't mean that abstinence-only sex ed works.

Do you think abstinence should be part of sex education at all?[/QUOTE]

Yes, I do. I think abstinence is the best choice for teens, but I'm also realistic about how many of them will make that choice, and I feel that they need to know how to protect themselves if they do choose to have sex.

It's like having car insurance. While it's best to not get into a wreck at all, you buy car insurance just in case.

No, of course not. I don't agree with schools handing out condoms anyway.

Teens are going to have sex. They always have, and they always will. Nothing anyone says or does will ever stop that.

Teaching teens how to properly use contraceptives, and realistic information about their side effects and failure rates will help those teens be more prepared to avoid the negative consequences of sex.

No, but since they are going to have sex anyway, its best to not ruin their life in the process. Its better they don't get a disease and they don't have a baby until they are ready for it.

This is pretty much my stance. I think abstinence is best, but I also know what being a teenager is like.

The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter.
