You are correct, exaggerating attendance didn't start or end with Mr. Beck. Are you happy now?

However, I think those on right are more apt to exaggerate than those on the left.

it started with, " That would depend on what your definition of , IS , IS".

This is the type of truthiness I can get behind.

Team Truthiness (ColbertRally.com) is looking into the idea of planning an “Unofficial Official Rally After Party/bar night” for the rally weekend. Our idea is to find businesses that would be willing to donate a portion of their proceeds for the night in exchange for rally supporter patronage and promotion. Plus its for two great causes: Classrooms across America, and Rally support, fun and frivality! Have any bars/restaurants in mind that would be convenient and a great place for rally goers? Also, it would be great if the owners/managers of these places weren’t jerks. We don’t like working with jerks.

Tacos? Youre racist!!! :poke

Seriously though I say over 20 million will show up

It has to be tacos, or else I will not have the proper fuel for enough stuff to come out of my butt.

The rally is coming up this next weekend, so i thought I'd revive the thread. Vote if you haven't yet!

There will definely be over 300,000. Did you hear about the help from Oprah? What about Huffington Post paying for buses? Sounds like nobody will have to find their own way there.

They do have many high-profile people involved. Of course, the One Nation rally had tons of organizations involved and it bombed.

If I may make a in-depth and highly intellectual comment on this....

Who gives a ****?

Probably wouldn't have even realized it was going to occur unless this thread existed.

Yea, but they both have a lot of fans, even conservative ones.
I bet people will have a lot of fun.
I watched Stewart on Larry King last night. It might be just me, but he seemed really down. I thought "hey, he knows dems are going to lose big time" but then he said some things that made me think he's really worried about the path we're on. Didn't seem too thrilled with Obama either.

I would love to go, but I have stuff to do.

Apparently the rally is going to be broadcast live on Comedy Central as well as online. Not sure if that is gonna help or hurt turnout. (save a lot of time and cash by staying home and watching it on TV. ;) )

Not finding any information on schedule of events for show (or even what time it is supposed to start). Anybody else seeing those details anywhere....?

My guess is 75-100k. But, I really have no freakin idea. I'm basing that number on the entertainment factor alone. These are two very popular comedians with benefits. I'm guessing the number they use will be somewhere in the one billion range though just to be cheeky toward the whole "let's inflate the actual attendance crowd" that has gained a lot of popularity lately.

Why only 1 bill? Go for, perhaps, 6.88 Billion, just for the hell of it.

I understand that's close to the estimate for the entire population of the world.

Well it got OVER 200,000 people!!!! :)

Daily Kos: State of the Nation

Actually, must like the Beck rally, the numbers are varying a fair bit. Similar to the Beck rally, it'll likely take a few days for the various groups to put out their numbers to best figure out a reasonable and realistic number on it.

Much like I wouldn't immediately trust a WND of Beck's I wouldn't trust a DailyKOS of Stewarts

The Park District unofficialy set the Restoring Honor Rally attendance at 300,000. They estimated the Restoring Sanity attendance at 200,000. Weird how an organization hired by CNN called Beck's at 87,000 and Stewart's at 215,000. HI-larious.

CBS, who contracts out their counting practices to an outside firm, and who gave the lowest total for the Glenn Beck rally by a large margin largely attributed to them just failing to even bother counting an area with the largest amount of people in it.

As I said before, personally I'd give it a number of days and look at a number of sources...including the two you listed...to get a grasp for what's the likely number, similar to what I did with the Beck Rally.

If you want to just take the first numbers as gospel, primarily because they server your desires, so be it. I just think its a poor tact to take.

Whats really weird is how people judge the validity of a movement based on how many people can make a drive or fly to Washington DC from all over the country. Even if we go with 300,000 people than we have .0004% of the population showing up. WOW thats quite a "national turnout" we've all heard about. Heck even the KKK managed to get .0003% of people to turn out for their big march in 1928, but most people never considered it a national movement.

Oh Good Lord. /facepalm
