He-Man clearly is the top 80's cartoon. Honorable mention to Thundercats, She-Ra, Transformers, X-Men, TMNT, G.I. Joe, C.O.P.S., Gobots, Voltron, and Silverhawks. They don't make cartoons like they used to.
Slipping into madness is good for the sake of comparison - Unknown.

Robotech was the best hands down and the first example of the anime genre that I am aware of.

Totally forgot about that one, I actually liked that one a lot.
I was discovering that life just simply isn't fair and bask in the unsung glory of knowing that each obstacle overcome along the way only adds to the satisfaction in the end. Nothing great, after all, was ever accomplished by anyone sulking in his or her misery.

This show that Fergie started on looks about as cheesy-80's as it gets, lucky for her I guess it wasn't too popular:

I picked "The Gummy Bears." This show not only had action and adventure, it was also smart and remained family friendly. Also, it was the prototype on which the rest of Disney's afternoon block of animation, such as "DuckTales," "Chip 'n' Dale's Rescue Rangers," and "Tail Spin" were based on. If there was no "Gummy Bears," then there would have been no "Gargoyles," which is hands down one of the best animated shows to come out of the West.

Actually, "Robotech" came out in the U.S. in 1984, the same year as "Voltron - Defender of the Universe."

However, "Speed Racer" aired in the U.S. in 1967-68.

Here's another anime, one that was produced in Japan in 1988. Fun Fact: This show was produced by Haim Saban, who would go on to found Saban Entertainment, which created "The Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers" and similar live action shows from the 1990's.
