Re: The media attention toward the Koran-Burning "Pastor"

this would/should be a non story. If the news media didn't give this guy the time of day it would not be raising the ire in the middle east. Ever noticed in the news clip the gun on his desk? There is no way I would be a member of his church. As other say I will defend he has the right to burn the books. It doesn't mean it is the right thing to do.

I do not think you would even get international attention if you burned a koran, the pastor got attention because he is a pastor. I bet the stupidity of this media attention over the koran burning will probably be a the subject of a future SouthPark episode.

"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

I agree with India. There should be some type of a media blackout on this incident. The pastor wants his 15 minutes, why give it to him.

The media will cover anything they think the people want to see, it's all about ratings and copy.

Re: The media attention toward the Koran-Burning "Pastor"

    I think it should decrease.

While I think it is wrong for him to burn the book it is still within his rights. Just as it is their right to burn the American flag...which the muslims and many many others have done many a times without the hoopla that we are seeing with this pastor.

I want the media attention to decrease (stop all together perferably) because giving it all this attention is what is putting our troops in danger. Most of the world wouldn't have even known about this pastor and what he's going to do without the help from the media.

    Exactly that.

    Operation Mockingbird, eh?
The US media is a propaganda and social conditioning tool of the elite (political, status, etc). In this case itís using fear mongering to further separate us and keep us sidetracked.

This potential book burning and flag burnings are borderline hate crimes; it may be better to have these things banned in out nation.
Our media is not acting in a responsible fashion - what else is new ?
    And "Holy" Books ?
I do not buy this, they are a figment of man's imagination - a book is a book, this should be respected, thats all.

Decrease. This guy's obviously looking for publicity and cameras, and if we ignore him, then he will probably stop posing for cameras, pack up, go home, and won't burn the Koran.
