Does Anyone Think Burn a Koran Day is a Good Idea?

Is it a Good Idea?

True. We should just throw out that silly constitution and bill of rights while we're at it. They're just so inconvenient at times, when what we really want to do is torture someone.

/god help us all mode.

what the hell are you talking about? what does not taking the "high road" have to do with taking away anyone's rights or torturing anyone?

I say this retard has the constitutional right to burn the freakin quran. i support his right to do so, whether or not anyone likes it or not. just as i support some idiotic muslims right to burn the bible or US flag, whether I like it or not.

all this pansy arsed bull**** about "wah, wah, he shouldn't burn the quran because it will make the muslims mad" is pure unadulterated horsepucky. no one gives a rat's ass that all the stupid stuff they do makes us mad, so why should we give a damn it something pisses them off. all that does is make us look weak in their eyes and THAT, much more than burning a quran, is what will lead to more attacks and greater violence on their part.

WRONG. I supported the RIGHT of the people to build a mosque on private property in Manhattan, and I support the RIGHT of people to burn any book they want. I just think it makes them look like moronic neanderthals. And, the mosque builders look like inconsiderate douchebags.

The thing is...it's well within someone's rights to be a douchebag in the U.S. And I support their rights to be that person, if that's what they wish. I also support MY RIGHTS to call that person what I think they are.

Now, why would you think I was refering to you here -- especially if you think it doesn't apply?

While I voted no, as there were not many choices, I personally would not burn any book. That being said, I do believe that first amendment rights should be protected and the church is more than free to do so. I also do not agree that the US should allow the exercise of rights from within our nation to be dictated by the whims of terror groups abroad.

Good idea? No. Protected right? Yes.

Hight road? Only trotted out when people don't like a protected right someone is exercising. Like the hypocrites who claim burning anything or everything else is a form of free speech, but burning a Quran is hatemongering. Constitution's a bitch sometimes eh?

notice how you were inflamed at the sight of a burning American flag

why would you defend similarly inflaming the islamic population

In this country we have FREEDOM OF SPEECH. We have the right to do as we wish. In Islam-o-nazi land ... things are different .... however, burning the American flag is considered acceptable to those mindless apes ... so **** THEM and the camel they rode in on.

if this were the state proposing to burn the koran, then i might find your comment valid

but since this is the action of a private person who seeks to vent his misplaced anger in a misplaced manner, there is no rational fear of a fall

The People are the State. And judging by recent DOJ reports... the People likewise have a nasty tendency of acting on their own agency.

It’s all ‘burn’ whatever your against until someone tries to burn your favorite book, then it’s all, burning books is wrong, blah!
It’s immature and will lead to some hypocritical bullsh**, like; you do not dare burn the American flag or a Christian Bible, but, let’s burn a Quran or the Mormon Bible, hell yeah!

meh, the high road is over-rated. all it does is make you look weak in the eyes of your enemy and encourage them to continue to attack you.

It makes you look STRONG. You are STRONG enough to take the punch. You are STRONG enough to not throw away your values for fear. You are STRONG enough to take the high road.

I think you are confusing strong with stupid.

So you are saying pissing off a billion Muslims is smart as long as were are strong?

I think what he is saying is that our very existence pisses them off and if we have to judge everything we do on not pissing off the Islamist extremist scum, we won't be able to do anything from listening to rock music to girls wearing miniskirts to gays being able to marry to me enjoying a bacon-cheeseburger

I am saying they are already pissed off and it doesn't matter because anything we do is going to piss them off. by caving to the "take the high road" mentality they win

The extreme of the extreme is pissed at us. This is just adding fuel to the fire.

By taking the high road we show them "We don't give a damn what you think of us, we aren't going to compromise our morals." Burning the Koran would show them we are weak, and they would win.

So to you our meddling in the ME like backing Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein (the enemy of my enemy is my friend) has nothing to do with pissing them off in the first place?

basically yes, they were pissed off well before that. read the quran, we are unbelievers, we are to be fought with and killed unless we convert. any of our other actions are irrelevant

The Koran also says be kind to your neighbors, no matter their religion, to respect other people, and to not kill. Terrorists are not following the Koran as it should be, and remember, they are a very very very very small minority when it comes to Muslims.

the quran says not to kill without justification. being a non-believer is considered justification.

I disagree that they are a very very very very small minority. Those who do the killing are a small group but those who aid and support such banditry are far more numerous.

It's an excellent idea.

A koran is nothing but someone's property, and any private citizen for their own symbolic purposes has the freedom to incinerate as many korans as he wishes to buy.

Since I don't hold the retarded book sacred, and since certain people who cut off captive's heads on the internet for fun get upset when the koran is toasted, I say toast as many korans as possible.

The best use for a koran? Barbequed pork ribs, making sure the fat drips onto the pages and makes fire even hotter.

Funny how the Leftists feel that burning a US flag is just "freedom of expression" but they get all bent out of shape when someone else expresses their freedom by burning an occult book. Their hypocrisy is astounding.

religious idiots in Florida rarely have good reasons for what they do. Do you remember the mayor who banned Satan from her city by public proclamation?

The better question is if anyone has postively identified Satan in that town since the proclamation.

Well?

I think it is a horrible idea and will not achieve anything positive......... that said, it is a protected right, a stupid idea but a protected right.

Oh, I think an annual we really dislike that silly religion celebration would do wonders for the believers of a religion of hate who feel that everyone should be forced to kiss their asses.

Rub their noses in it. America has to stop quivering just because some nuts are going to get unhappy when we do something that isn't any of their business in the first place. If we can't do that, we may a well rip the clitorises off our girl children right now. We'll have aready proven American men don't have any balls.

I agree. The muslims who are mad about this can **** off. They burn the American flag and find no issue with it ... so they have ZERO room to talk.

Oh, I find it amuing when they burn the US Flag. They often burn themselves, too.

What this proves is that terrorists are more flammable than normal people and that the US should use more napalm when they bomb terrorist camps.

Not only would this show the terrorists that we don't mind putting them to the torch, but the chances are really really good that the burning camps would barbeque even more korans.

notice how you were inflamed at the sight of a burning American flag

why would you defend similarly inflaming the islamic population

Well, for me, as a normal American military veteran, I object to burning the symbol of the nation I defended. Recognizing, however, that the symbol represents freedom, I do not seek to deny anyone the freedom to burn their own physical property as they wish, assuming, of course, that the conflagration is contained and not dangerous. Since the US flag is a symbol of freedom, it's value as a symbol can only be diminished if the defense of the physical object diminishes the freedom it represents.

Since any particular koran is nothing but printed paper in a binding, most likely printed on a perfectly secular and prosaic press that is later set to print bibles and the Satanic Verses, it's just a thing.

A symbol is not harmed when a particular physical manifestation of that symbol is destroyed. Only idolatrous people become emotionally distraught when their idols are harmed.

Real Islam eschews idolatry. Hence their angst at "draw mohammed day".

Thus, it can be argued that only fake muslims, idolatrous muslims, muslims who are breaking holy writ, will perform retaliatory acts of violence when others burn private copies of the koran.
