If we somehow talk this nut out of this and they get their way, what next will be putting ourselves and troops in danger? Will they go after our gay rights marches and start protesting those in the ME.
When did we become a bunch of pansies?

How do you stop the preacher from burning the Koran? Easy. Just threaten to burn a Bible in retaliation.

Can't claim any kind of moral high ground if you think, feel, and act just how your 'enemies' do.

Compareed to people like Bin Laden and Amadinajihad ... who clearly have no morals .... yes, we can.

You are wrong in more than one way.

Only if we decide that we too want to "clearly have no morals," do we act "like Bin Laden and Amadinajihad." As Mahatma Gandhi said, "An eye for an eye, leaves the whole world blind."

And to pretend that this hate-mongering fool in Floriduh is somehow taking a shot at just terrorists and not an entire significant sector of the world's population, is blatantly and deliberately false.

Just a quick note to let you all know that my gardening club is holding a "compost the Koran" workshop today at 3, and you are all invited to attend.

Finally, an environmentally friendly use for the Koran.

And the religious war begins. It's this easy. Like I stated, if a single assasins bullet can suck an entire world into war, what will burning holy books lead too? I'm all about rights, but I'm also about brains.

No.

I feel no desire to insult an entire religion based on the actions of a fraction of it's believers.

You can't insult a religion. A religion is an organized set of superstitious beliefs and is not of itself a conscious being.

You can insult the followers of a religion, though.

Any particular reason the left is sparing muslims the scorn it routinely heaps upon Christians?

Europe was going to fall into war, regardless. Princep Gavrillo is merely the spark that lit the fuse, he didn't build the powder keg and there were other sparks falling.

If the world is going to go to war because the deluded followers of an archaic superstition can't make the transition to life in a civilized and free society, then the world is going to go to war anyway, and the individual spark that causes the conflagration is merely the one that worked. The timberlands dying in the drought of Islamic ignorance had been growing for hundreds of years, and some spark was going to ignite the flames eventually.

But no one should be denied their freedom to do with his property as he pleases, merely because some ignorant emotional ass is threatening to harm innocents in retaliation. The retaliation on that fanatic and those that support him should be swift, terrible, and unforgettable. Americans cannot give up their basic freedoms to buy uncertain safety from anyone, let alone crazy-ass muslim fanatics who will only view such capitulation as a success and press for more concessions.

Fine, if you insist on being anal-retentive.

I have no desire to insult the FOLLOWERS of a religion based on the actions of a fraction of them.

Not being able to speak for "the left", I couldnt tell you.

For me personally, I feel no desire to burn bibles for the same reason, if it makes you feel any better.

Tell me, why do you and others seem to think that just because I didnt specifically spell out every single inclusion and disclusion of an idea that it somehow means that I meant only the group that I said?

I mean what I said was pretty clear; I dont want to insult people because some people are jerks. I never said Muslim or Christian or Buddhist, my statement was inclusive of anyone of any faith. I can only draw the conclusion that you WANTED to see that I was only talking about Muslims, so that's what you saw.

Remind me again why I haven't blocked you?

If you transcend the political garbage you may find yourself in a better place to learn. I am hardly the "left" and even I believe these wannabe burners are as radical as our enemies. We saw the very worst in Islam on 9/11. Burning Qur'ans on a ritual pyre of hatred can be the worst of Christianity (thus far). What do you think sits in the middle? -...the vast majority of Christians who see such activity as ignorant and insulting to their brand of Christianity.....and the vast majority of Muslims who are ashamed of their extremists.

Sure, it's Europe. But a single fanatic caved in the entire world. Many people believe in Samuel Huntington's "Clash of Civilizations." I happen to. What fanatic's senseless activity will cave us in? Let's start by needlessly offending a mass of people who haven't offended us. In the mean time, we dance around the fire and foolishly call it our right.

And bigger retaliation ensues after bigger retaliation and bigger retaliation. And it all started because we as a free people weren't responsible enough to handle our freedoms more wisely and smack our own fanatics down. Of course, plenty that6 get sucked into the blood shed will simply accise the other of not being responsible enough to handle needless and senseless insults. In the end, a religious fantatic is a ****ing fanatic. Right now, Christianity has the upper hand. This can easily be changed by these very few.

Because, when people make generalizations from statements they're no longer discussing what was said but what is thought was said.

This leads to imprecision in the communication process.

Gee, why would you ask that question of the person who corrected your misuse of the word "religion" when you apparently meant the followers of that religion?

Personally, I believe that Islam is a barbaric religion that holds the minds of men back, denies the existence of minds in woman, and that therefore Islam is a cancer that threatens the very foundations of all civilized societies.

Thus, I'm not especially anguished that someone is going to burn copies of the book the superstitious worship. The superstitious need to grow up, and that form of spanking is an inexpensive lesson. If it sparks the more extreme to move out of hiding and into the gunsights of our troops, that's all the better.

Evolution, of course, is the process of killing the unfit before they can breed.

Gee.

Pay attention to where I said it was going to explode anyway.

Also, Europe isn't "the entire world". There was never a good reason for the US to get involved. Japan and the Far East remained aloof. South America was never bothered by that silliness. It was a dying gasp of imperialism and it should have been left for the dying empires to deal with.

Oh, and by the way, offence cannot be given, it must be accepted.

And, finally, it's been our fight since PanAm Flight 103 was blown up. Americans died on that plane, including 22 students from Syracuse University.

It was our fight when the muslims attacked the World Trade Center in 1993.

It was still our fight when the Khobar Towers were bombed in Saudi Arabia in 1996.

It was still our fight when Al Qaeda attacked three embassies in Kenya in on the same day in 1998.

It most certainly was our fight when jihadists floated a canoe laden with exlosives against the hull of the USS Cole in Yemen in 2000.

Needless to say, it was our fight when even more cowardly terrorists murdered thousands of American civillians on September 11, 2001.

And all of the above was done in the name of Islam. And you're pretending to be a miliary man and saying that free people should refrain from insulting the animals that do what I just listed?

No. America won't remain a free nation if we cower at the thought of offending the people who murder our citizens.

No. You're not foolish enough to actually imply we started anything. That's clearly some flaw in your ability to express yourself.

I"m not saying the koran-torchers aren't radical. The word that describes them in my lexicon is "pathetic".

However, what is disgusting is the cowering so many are engaged in at the thought offending the people who are capable of stealing airplanes to murder people in buildings and who can cut Nick Berg's head off with a dull knife on the Internet. I want those people to come out of hiding so we can shoot them.

Personally, give than what is being burned is paper and buckram and ink, I don't care what those looney toons "Christians" do. They live in a society where their freedom to be harmlessly foolish like that is still protected by law. It was your job in the military to defend that freedom. And if some animal terrorist decides to do violence to others in respose, it's your job to kill them.

The Christians in the "middle" have nothing to be embarassed about. They're not burning anything.

The muslims who don't rush out and kill infidels because some stupid books were burned by idiots have nothing to be embarassed about.

That's all there is to that.

Except I know I go out of my way to be clear when I speak so there is as little imprecision as possible. So that leaves error on the receiving end. Since you, by your own admission, seem to have a serious issue with Islam and an apparently very binary view of the world, the possibility that you seeing anything that isn't an instant condemnation of Islam is support for it becomes much more plausible.

Gee, why would you ask that question of the person who corrected your misuse of the word "religion" when you apparently meant the followers of that religion?
I think you're being overly-picky because you disagree with me. You and anyone else who read my statement can plainly see what I mean by it even if my syntax isnt exact.

Personally, I believe that Islam is a barbaric religion that holds the minds of men back, denies the existence of minds in woman, and that therefore Islam is a cancer that threatens the very foundations of all civilized societies.
Demonstrating both a lack of understanding of history and of religion itself in one fell swoop, awesome.

Thus, I'm not especially anguished that someone is going to burn copies of the book the superstitious worship. The superstitious need to grow up, and that form of spanking is an inexpensive lesson.
The fact that you'd willingly destroy information of ANY sort scares me, but what scares me even more is that you're willing to do it with the ONLY reason behind it being you personally dislike it.

Personally, I think book burning should be a crime against humanity, punishable by death.

If it sparks the more extreme to move out of hiding and into the gunsights of our troops, that's all the better.
Except, it doesn't do that, all it does is legitimize the claims of the extremists, make moderates more willing to join the extremists, and generally make everyone angry. It's not an effective strategy, attacking someone's ideology in the hopes it'll make them less willing to fight is stupid to an almost incalculable degree.

Evolution, of course, is the process of killing the unfit before they can breed.
No, that's eugenics.

Evolution is the change in the inherited traits of a population of organisms through successive generations.

Also, Europe isn't "the entire world". There was never a good reason for the US to get involved. Japan and the Far East remained aloof. South America was never bothered by that silliness. It was a dying gasp of imperialism and it should have been left for the dying empires to deal with.

I don't care to discuss Europe's first civil war. But considering that it did involve the colonies throughout, it was global and spanned continents.

Oh, and by the way, offence cannot be given, it must be accepted.

Great examples of a very distinct enemy...not an entire civilization. I guess President Bush was smarter than you.

And you're pretending to be a miliary man and saying that free people should refrain from insulting the animals that do what I just listed?

No......I am saying that Americans should refrain from being foolish and not needlessly and pointlessly insult the extreme masses who are not the enemy. And what is it about you Right Wing fanatics who now need me to not be in the military now? Do I not fit neatly into your packages now that Bush no longer needs my defense? You are the second one to whine that I don't tote the Right-Wing Republican Christian banner of ignorance. I guess you have an image of what our military is, huh? We are supposed to just repeat "Islam evil" like yesteryears military did with "communist bad?" Fortunately, our military is better educated and far better than the likes of your hateful fanaticism. Not yet have I come across anybody on this site in the last 5 years that can come close to what I know about what this enemy is. It comes from educating myself constantly. Try it.

No. America won't remain a free nation if we cower at the thought of offending the people who murder our citizens.

Fortunately, our military fights those who murder our citizens and we are led by people who are evolved beyond a caveman's idea of hatred and war.

No. You're not foolish enough to actually imply we started anything. That's clearly some flaw in your ability to express yourself.

Well, I was clear. And it was so very easy to understand because it was in English and everything. I remarked on retaliation and how it tends to grow. It doesn't matter who started it, especially when it is my kind that bleed over a fantaics'sneed to escallate the problem to satisfy a senseless need to celebfrate his childish, ignorant, and misguided hate. Like I stated, Christianity has the uper hand in this fight so far. Only fanatics and the morons who cheer them on will change that.

Well, that's exactly all I have stated. Except I actually added substance as to why it is "pathetic."

Maybe it has nothing to do with cowardice for most part and everything to so with sound tactics against a religious enemy. This war is a thinking man's game. Only the dumbasses are going to lose.

The muslims who don't rush out and kill infidels because some stupid books were burned by idiots have nothing to be embarassed about.

That's all there is to that.

You can't have it both ways. If the vast majority of Christians don't have to feel embarrassed about their fanatics then why should the vast majority of Muslims? Our enemy is distinct, not faceless.

Why anybody would feel the desire to burn a book for any reason is entirely ridiculous...
Why Muslims would feel the desire to conduct violent protests where people die is entirely stupid...

Nazis were fond of it. This has generally been frowned upon by the American public until recently. What an ironic and tragic twist of fate. Merely calling it a "right" changes the whole thing. It doesn't take much to justify things does it? Yet we can't find ourselves understanding why other civilization's fanatics can justify their behaviors. I say we re-create the world. We designate a country of smart people and a country of dumbasses. And the border of seperation is defined by true intellectual thought and good behavior versus the inferiors.

And if I was ignorant, I'd say nothing about your use of the phrase "civil war" to describe WWI. Why you deliberately used an obviously false term is something for you to figure out, you're probably the only one that cares.

Great examples of a very distinct enemy...not an entire civilization. I guess President Bush was smarter than you.

Yeah, I kinda doubt that the man who expanded government and signed the PATRIOT Act is smarter than me, but I'm smarter than everyone who voted for him.

Who'd you vote for?

Yeah, whatever. I see that attitude all the time from the ignorant.

The enemy is, among other groups, that set of people that insist Americans should give up personal liberty in a vain attempt to appease mortal enemies.

You're in that group, little buddy.

One word, yep! Why the **** not?

I would've, but I really have no clue where to find one and wasn't that motivated.

I love the idea, though.

I have no problem with people's "rights" to burn books, I simply think that a person that does so has serious problems. If ideas in the book make the reader so uncomfortable that they feel the need to destroy the book, then that individual/group has, like I said, some serious problems. Self worth issues, whatever...

I understand "why" people want to burn books or kill people... but like a broken record, those groups/individuals have serious problems. I am not arrogant enough to think that my ideas are the best, just that burning a book of opposing ideas is stupid.
