    Re: A Teacher's Private Life

Presently smoking marijuana is a crime.

Other than that, it probably doesn't matter. The teacher, however, is a role model for her students, and she should be held to a higher standard of conduct than your garbageman. So they can look at porn, but shouldn't be posing on bangyourteacher.com.

Drinking is legal, but if the broad's an alcoholic and she's coming to work hung over or otherwise inappropriately, she should be out on the street the same day.

Having a cell phone is legal. Teachers should not be allowed to answer their cells while in class. To make sure that happens, they should be fired if they fail to turn their phone in to the office when they come in to work in the morning.

There's the occasional article in the news about a mutant teacher that gets a sex change and wants to resume teaching the class it left. No, the children don't need that kind of confusion in their lives. The thing should be transferred to a different class once it's mental illness is treated.

I Chose smoking pot, but even im not entirely sure if i agree with that. Teachers have their own personal lives and frankly they have every right to do as they please, as grown adults they know what is right and wrong, and choosing to do the wrong has consequences. these consequences do not need to be shared with the boss unless it directly effects the boss, smoking pot has certain situations where reporting would be appropriate (Selling or holding on person)
but simply smoking it, while illegal, is none of the principals buisness

A child's teacher is an authority figure for that child and their actions have a definite impact on the developing morals of that Child. Anything that teacher does that you think would have a negative impact on your child should be reported. That being said, teachers deserve a private life. They should keep in mind, however, that their activities, if less than above board, should be kept under wraps.

    The key word is private.
People should look up its meaning, evidently.

None of those things. Illegal /= wrong or harmful, so I certainly wouldn't tattle on a teacher for something so minor.

The only things I can think of that I would speak up about are things like child molestation, kidnapping, physical violence against others. **** like that.

I agreed up until the cell phone thing. They should reject the call, turn off the phone, or leave it on vibrate. Turning it in seems a bit over the top.

    Re: A Teacher's Private Life

I voted who cares, but there are a few things that a teacher could do during their private time that I think should cause them to lose their jobs, but none of the ones on your list. Some of them for me would be:

Committing most felonies (probably irrelevant since they'd most likely be in jail). I could make exception for some though.
Drinking or using other drugs to an extent that it affects their ability to do their job.
Engaging in inappropriate behavior with students (sexual/romantic relationships with students, even if they are of age, buying alcohol/tobacco for students who aren't of legal age to use them, etc.)
If you build a man a fire, he'll be warm for a day.

If you set a man on fire, he'll be warm for the rest of his life.

    Re: A Teacher's Private Life

Teachers? What about cops, judges, lawyers, doctors for christ sake? Doctor does pot at home, you gonna call the cops? Many doctors do all sorts of pills to stay awake and such... people end up dead. I swear, the constant attacks on teachers just makes me sick. So many small minded pinheads out there that it isn't even funny...
