    Re: Favorite season?

I've gotten to where I ****ing hate summer. It's too darn hot and humid.

Winter is too cold mosta the time.

Autumn, and spring. Mostly autumn though, because spring only lasts 2 weeks around here. Autumn lasts about 5 months.

I prefer Spring because of the growing plans and having all summer of warm weather to look forward to. Plus winter has passed with the cold and snow... and Christmas! I HATE Christmas along with the whole season!

For me, it's Fall, with spring being a distant second, then winter then summer being dead last. I don't like extremes.

In order, although possibly subject to change if I move far away from my current location.:
    1. Fall.
    2. Spring.
    3. Winter.
    4. Summer.

I prefer fall, because it's not too hot, among many other reasons.
Spring second, for the same reason, among others.
Winter third, cause of the holidays, not too hot (or nowhere near hot, depending), no bugs.
Summer last, as it's too hot, has far too many bugs, and thus makes me want to stay indoors with the AC...Not that I usually go outside much anyway....

Me too... I thought most people would be into summer.

    Re: Favorite season?

Autumn is my favorite season. It's where the hot, frantic nature of summer is starting to calm down and things become slower, start to relax, and it feels like there is more rest in the air. Things aren't asleep yet like in winter but it's not as lively as summer. The air is cooler but not freezing yet. There are always 2-3 weeks in there where climate is perfect and I'm almost always outside.

Also, on an energy level (or whatever you want to call it), autumn feels like the new year to me, as opposed to January. I never understood why Jan. 1 marked new years day... I always felt it was more like that in the fall, and for me Halloween has always marked the transition. Not sure why. September always denotes new beginnings for me and the passing of the previous year, and it's not because that's when school starts. Even when I haven't been in school I've felt that way, and I always feel more reflective and calm in autumn.

I learned recently that when the leaves turn yellow, red, and orange, you are actually seeing their true colour, because the green chlorophyll is gone.

Yeah... RIIIIIIGHT before everything DIES! And then it turns COLD and you freeze your ass off and then a snow storm comes along and you go to drive to work the next day and you have to shovel the damn thing out IF it starts.... then on your way, you hit an ice patch and slam into a train going 80MPH and you DIE!

Noooo way. Fall is right before evil winter.

That doesn't make fall evil. If I could live in a climate where it was perpetually autumn, that would be awesome.

There are many cultures that celebrate the new year in the fall. In India, the Diwali festival is traditionally a new year celebration - though they don't change the actual year dates now since the whole fricken world uses the Gregorian calendar now.
