That's not the case for everyone.

People that do that are dumb.

Even if that is the case how do you expect people to rise up without more income?
That is true compared to those that work hourly... my point is that poeple have choices and can do various things in their lives so that they don't have to work two jobs regardless of their income. If more of society did this, housing prices would come down, as would all prices. People comtrol the market, not the producers. People control how wociety functions, not the government. If the more affluent and middle classes did this, it would help those of lower socio-economic status get ahead as well.

I wasn't going to get into that, but you are correct. A beginning teacher's salary versus CA cost of living, especially in Newport Beach, is not very good. But we were still able to do it. CA's cost of living is the highest in the nation, i think. Certainly top 5.

That's wrong if that's the case. It's better than what a lot of people make thaw what I was getting at. FTR, I believe they should get pad more for what the put up with.

With their equal rights have come awesome responsibilities. And many times very unhappy husbands. With all this liberation, something's got to give -- and with a divorce rate of almost 50%, there's no doubt in MY mind what's "giving."
I work full time, I have 2 kids, and I do all of the household maintenance, lawn care, and most of the housework (I'm a single mom). In comparison to women 50 years ago, I hardly work at all. I have a ton of leisure time, I read, go to movies, have dinner out with friends, go dancing. I spent yesterday grouting my boyfriend's shower and helping him put in a new floor in his house. We spent about 8 hours working and then drove to my house and ate dinner out with my daughter.

I don't consider any aspect of my life particularly unmanageable, in fact, even mowing the lawn or trimming the hedges has its own satisfactions. I cooked an amazing Indian dinner tonight and had pretty amazing sex today, too. My life is great. I don't really know what any woman in the U.S. has to whine about.

Maybe it was a lot harder when my kids were little, but I don't think it was that unmanageable.

Could we please stop with the hyperbole? My life is not drudgery. Compared to what women in another generation dealt with, my life is a piece of cake.

    Seriously.
The biggest hindrance for me buying a home, is all the douche bags that think their shacks with a new water heater, is worth $100k.

Typical ad for some houses here:

I think you're on to something here. I remember an article that compared before WWII to after. This concept was part of it. This makes sense. Well said.

The thing is to implement such a system everyone would have to do it at the same time.

It's hard because those on the bottom of the socio-economic spectrum need those two jobs.

So you say "I'll give you $25,000", if you throw in an AC unit.
